Everything about PhotoPass and Memory Maker.

Thank you for this info! We are planning our first Disney Trip in April and have Memory Maker. So just to clarify, my husband and kids are all on my account and therefore they can get pictures done on rides/without me. And my sister and her family are linked to my account so I can see all of their reservations etc so they can "share" my memory maker and I can download any pics they have taken for them? Even if we're not together? There's nothing else I need to do besides have us all linked (visible when I check friends and family on MDE)?

It's best to think of it separate. Pictures aka photopass is 1 part of disney. On you account or linked to your account and your good to go and you understand that part. So any magicband, ticket, etc by anyone in your collection of family and friends and you'll get their photo and they will get yours.

Now memory maker is buying a digital copy of all the photos no matter how many you took while at disney. That is specific to the mde account that purchased it. You can give them a copy of the photos or let them use your account (security experts would say don't do this for good reason) to get the photos. The big one to watch out for is you can edit the photos, if the linked mde account(s) edit it, you cannot download that edited version. you can only download the edited versions make while logged into your mde account.

Still totally confused!! We will be taking the kids & grandkids next year. Currently, everyone is listed in my MDE only except DD who is a Florida resident AP holder. Our accounts are linked. What, if anything, will I have to buy to get the tons of pictures I hope to get taken?

If DD will download and send all the photos to everyone, nothing. DD gets free downloads with their pass. They rest you have setup and ready!

You are so kind for helping us all with this. I totally would have purchased the memory maker for no reason! Many thanks for you help.

One more stupid question cuz I am clueless, to what/where is she downloading? Her laptop? Could DD take the downloaded pictures & get a CD made at a local photo kiosk to send to us?

It's the same as copying photos from the digital camera or smart phone. The difference is they are coming from disney's website. Once she has the photos, she can do whatever makes sense to get them to everyone so yes, the cd is an option.

I'm trying to purchase it now for my trip on 1/8 and it will not let me go past the screen that says "who will use memory maker?" I select myself and hit next and nothing happens? It's been doing this the past 2 times that I've tried....any idea?

That is actually something new that I have not experienced yet (and missing from this thread).

I've had some quirks with all the disney websites. sometimes it's just a quirk and you need to try again later, sometimes it's something they changed and doesn't work right with the browser your using. if your using firefox, I find that it'll part update without telling you and you just need to close it, open it again and it'll be fine (and probably update while opening). I've also had to reboot my machine for other reasons and found the disney site quirks to have gone away.. sometimes you can also buy it from the app and I just use a phone or tablet to do it from the app (and the website if you want to try there as well). The biggest area I have problems tends to be around credit cards. there is just times it doesn't want to work right even though I've done many disney purchases with the same cards.

Last resort, call up and buy it from over the phone.

TY!! I thought my browser might be the problem so I tried Safari/Firefox on my MAC and when that didn't work I tried windows on my work computer and it still wasn't working. I also tried my phone, but for some reason from the app it wasn't giving the discounted price for buying ahead of time. I ended up just calling and having it added...but now it's not showing up in MDE..idk lol I've had zero luck with this.

I didnt think to mention this but many things I get over the phone, I have to take the confirmation code they gave me and link it in MDE.

I think I have post #1 to the point that it's complete, accurate and hopefully easy to understand.. Added a lot over the last week in the area of recommendations if your really confused on what to do near the end...

Just wanted to share my recent experience with trying to purchase MM...

I was online trying to purchase MM (I posted this part previously) for our upcoming trip, and for some odd reason the website would not go to the checkout portion of the page. I tried on Safari, Firefox, IE, literally every browser they make. I also tried on MAC, PC and the app. And nothing. Reluctantly I picked up the phone to call Disney to have them add it over the phone. I waited about 45 minutes, when I finally got through to an agent it took like 15 more minutes and then it was done. All in all, pretty painless.

I did this while I was at work, so by the time I got home I logged in to MDE and low and behold no MM on my profile. Weird, I thought. I then thought that it was because I needed to link it myself, so I go to check my email for my confirmation number and realized that I never got an email. More weird.

I reluctantly picked up the phone and called Disney back. This was at like 11pm, so I only had to wait 9 minutes this time..small victories. The agent was super nice, pulled up my reservation and said there was no MM on my profile (no kidding, that's why I'm on the phone with you...) She does some digging and finds out that the previous agent had just simply charged my account so it looked like an overage and was in the process of being refunded. She also said that I needed to re-purchase. Cool. I repurchased. She has me pull up MDE to make sure it went through..it didn't. She has me purchase it for a third time, and this time it does show up. I then check my credit card statement and staring right at me are 3 charges for $149.99 for MM.

Time to call back. FOR THE THIRD TIME. Same agent. She tells me that all of the charges are pending and two "should" fall off within the next 5 days. Sorry, but "should" isn't good enough for me when I have $500 in unnecessary charges sitting on my credit card. Well, today is the 5th day and it finally refunded my for two of the $149 charges. I asked why the system was doing this and the agent told me they were making some changes and those changes were causing glitches. Just wanted to let you all know in case anyone was having issues purchasing MM. It's a hot mess right now, folks.

I really hate this part of the credit and banking system. I wish I could blame disney for it but it's just how credit card transactions work where each bank has their own "timeout" of when the charge that wasn't completed gets cleared and there is no way for the merchant to say that the charge is canceled.. You can only authorize, authorize a refund and complete. I have 1 bank that I never use the cards with companies I see this happen because they hold it for 9 days before clearing it. Uber has actually gotten so bad with a pre-auth that the same bank immediately refunds the first uber transaction automatically.

I'm sorry to hear that and appreciate you chiming in about it. I did see some sections of the website quietly change for the better. disney and website stuff is always a challene. The reason is simple, they are a little cheap on the IT side of salaries and while disney has some good people, they are taking a pay cut to work for disney. have you tried the wifi?

Potentially stupid question here:

I bought an AP for this upcoming trip, partly because it includes memory maker. I have a couple questions about how it works with the AP, though:

1. Will everyone in my traveling party be able to "use" my memory maker, even though I'm the AP holder? As in, if my husband takes the kids to ride something that I don't, will we get their ride photos since they're in my party or not because they don't have my AP with them?

2. Why doesn't the memory maker show up in my MDE account?

Ok I can see how that part isn't clear in the first post so i'll work on getting that improved.

See the photopass section of the first post. It covers how everyone in your party can take photos. If anything is unclear please feel free to ask more questions. As far as downloading the files, the section that talks about who can download and edit photos with memory maker is accurate for how the AP works. this is the area I need to improve in the post.

2. Why doesn't the memory maker show up in my MDE account?

You don't have memory maker, you have unlimited photopass downloads. It's the same thing but pictures expire in 365 days instead of 45 and you can download at no extra cost as long as your ap is valid. Nothing will show except that your ticket is an annual pass and if you look up that pass it's listed as one of the perks/options of that pass.

Where you will see a difference is when there is a photopass photo in your account, it will not have a disney watermark and you'll be able to just download it without doing anything special.

I sort of want to complain about the quality of photos we ended up with (I purchased Memory Maker)...any idea where I should direct them to?

I don't really like to be a big complainer, but this cost a lot of money and I was sort of counting on these memories of our party of 13...and didn't get much I could use. :( Tons are out of focus, some overexposed, some in such a terrible place that the sun is too bright and none of the kids will look and the photographer's shadow is on us, some have blocked family members...

I would start with guest.services@disneyworld.com and leave your contact info, they do call.

Question about photopass included with AP. I have 4 people in our party with APs and 3 with regular 5 day passes. All are linked in MDE. If those without APs are off by themselves and have a photo taken, will the photo link to my account (AP holder) with free download privileges or does an AP holder have to have their magic band scanned in order to have the photo added to the account?
