Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

Considering a switch to a studio Villa for our June 2017 trip. Have never stayed at WL and haven't followed any of the construction. Is there any chance the pool will be done by June? And how much of an effect will construction have on the Villas?

We are staying at WL in mid January, and I would like to build a "resort day" into our trip.
My wife and I have twin 4 year old boys and I'm trying to figure out what we could do during our resort day if we just wanted to stay at WL. We've stayed at Poly, Boardwalk, and the Contemporary before.(The boys loved the Poly resort day the most....due to all of the activities available). I'm trying to adjust my expectations of the resort, due to construction. Disney's website states that the nightly campfires, bike rentals, and even nightly movies outdoors are cancelled(you can watch a movie indoors). So my question is, "Is there enough to do at the resort itself to justify an entire resort day in mid January?" If so, can you give me some ideas that would keep 4 year old boys entertained?

Thanks!
You might consider going over to Fort wilderness for some fun stuff that day. They have a nightly sing along and campfire followed by the outdoor movie. chip and Dale are at the sing along. You can bring your own smores supplies or buy a pack from the snack stand there. During the day, you can do the pony rides at the stable for a fee or just visit the horses for free. There are several nice playgrounds at the fort also. It is just a short boat ride over to Fort wilderness from the lodge.
We did the hidden Mickey hunt at the lodge last month and that was fun. Maybe a little tricky for 4 year olds. If you get hung up, help can be found with a quick Google search. lol. When finished, the kids get a certificate and an autographed picture. Just ask at the front desk and they'll give you the paper with the clues to get started.

The roaming CM's in the lodge are also very helpful with the hidden Mickey's. We had a few notice us wandering with the paper and offered to help.

I asked if they were still doing Magic cookie hour on Saturdays at 2 pm and they definitely are still having it. They give you a plain cookie with little cups of icing and sprinkles. Anyone can participate. You don't have to be a guest. :)

Hi Folks, looking to book the 3rd week of a 3 week vacation and considering going CL at WL. Its our favouriite resort by far but the buiding work has put me off staying there for 3 weeks. After a lot of changes we are now definitely staying BC for 2 weeks but the third week Id like to stay at WL Club. The only thing that worries me is that my DD is 16 and DS is 2 so we really want a room with bunk beds. Is there a queen/bunk bed room available for Club Level and if so can it be booked ? The info I have read is not conclusive and they have no such room category on Touring Plans. Id be happy with the bunks at the expense of a particular view or the floor. Any advice would be appreciated

Also, has the CL lounge been relocated during the works ? I figure by early June the majority of the work will have been complete

Thanks very much

I am just wondering if anyone can fill me in on the construction? Thinking of staying in April. Is there construction around the Silver Springs pool area? If we are laying around the Silver Springs pool are we going to be affected?

thanks in advance!

My understanding is that there are bunk bed rooms on the club level and you can request a bunk bed room but it's not a bookable category.

The main pool, Silver Springs, was refurbished in 2014 so is now open and is not planned to close.

The smaller pool, Hidden Springs is becoming Boulder Ridge Springs and is expected to re-open next summer 2017.

My post from a week or two ago should help with the CL question - here's a link: Post about new WL CL Lounge

There are links in that post that go to the CL thread where I posted a bunch of pics.

Hope that helps.

We were just at WL for two wonderful nights Dec. 3 & 4 and barely noticed the construction at all. We spent a really nice afternoon at the main pool and never heard any construction. As a matter of fact if we didn't have a standard view room booked that looked out at the new cabins they are building we never would have noticed. We had an awesome view of the castle, BTW, looking past the work being done. I would not hesitate to stay again.

If you looked directly down this is what we saw. But it was actually really cool getting to smell what was going on in the smokehouse!

May I ask what room number this was and whether you had an enclosed balcony? (General room number area is fine if you don't want to post the exact one)

Edited: forgot my quote. This was for @cinderkelly

Bunk beds is not a bookable room category for CL. I would give them a call and ask that be added as a request to your room reservation. I ended up doing the opposite (specifically requesting two queen beds) for my upcoming trip.

Funnily enough I read that report late last night and it was the final push required. :)

I called them earlier today and booked 7 nights CL. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reply, I have added that as a preference on my booking so fingers crossed.
