The Running Thread - 2016

I just read that there will be a 2 mile "race" this Saturday near my house. It is $5 and you can only register morning of. The listing says "We will run or walk on the sidewalks. Streets will not be closed off. Volunteers will be at each intersection and corner. This is not a timed race and awards will not be given out. This is just for holiday fun and it’s a great event for families and friends in the community!"
I'm thinking about it, but don't put me down for it in case the timing doesn't work out for our busy weekend plans :) Sounds like it's geared towards families.

So I had some miscalculations on the timing of my announcement. Obviously I should have consulted @Keels for help with the math. (Keels, if I mistaken you for someone else with the math joke I am sorry). So with my online running friends I share with you the following:

Still very early along in the process here, so any thoughts and prayers from the group will always be appreciated. DW and I are beyond excited!

Kinda hijacking the thread today with a lot of non running stuff. Currently this is a secret as we plan to tell family/friends over the next few weeks in person as we see them for the holidays.

Congratulations @LSUlakes!

Thanks everyone!

I think I found another negative to the whole "treadmill running sucks" even after I tried to defend it. I was running this afternoon on one and all of a sudden it stops.... while I was still running. Something caused the whole row of TM to lose power and I was the only one running that liked to kill myself from that happening. I was unable to solve the problem to get them working either.... Guess I will run tomorrow to try to make up for it.

I had one of my silly running fantasies come true last night. You know those automated "Your Speed" radar detectors they have in school zones to make you aware of just how fast you're driving? Well... I've kinda always wanted to register on one as a runner.

This week they put up a couple in my neighborhood and I guess they've got the sensitivity on them set a tad too high. Running down the street during my training run I showed up on it! It was only 5 and 6 mph but I was fast enough to show up on radar!

That's pretty awesome!

Congrats @LSUlakes!

I tried out my Tracer360 tonight on my group run. For the first half of the run I hated it, because the tubes kept falling off my shoulders. But then I started fiddling with it and realized just how tight they mean for you to pull the tubes through the belt to get the backpack part up between your shoulder blades, and then it stayed put and I loved it. It was kind of funny, one of the running coaches runs with me because I am so much slower than everyone else, and she had asked for one for Christmas, and she saw me struggling to pull the tubes back up on my shoulders like every 10 seconds and asked if they could be tightened because she kinda didn't want it now. I was like, yeah, there's these little plastic doohickeys... maybe it's because my halfzip is so slippery... maybe I need to get a smaller size (I probably could have gotten L... I got XL because it said that you should get that if you were women's XL/XXL, but I could have gone L). But then as soon as I really pulllled the tubes tight and the backpack part got hiked up further on my back and the shoulders stayed snug, I was like, "Ok, now I can recommend this with more confidence... it's not falling down now." :)
