Club Villain

Glad to hear that folks are enjoying this. We went on Sept 23rd and did not have the best time. It was fun, but I certainly wouldn't spend that much money on it again. The food was great, but hard to get to and eat at the tiny tables. The specialty drinks were also pretty good, and I suppose you could drink enough to make up for the price. The entertainment was entertaining, but I wish the characters were more involved in the musical numbers. It was also very "adult" -- the dancing girls were quite sexy.
I found the character interaction to be less than stellar. You are given a set time to meet with the Villains and we were rushed through so quickly - there was no chance to interact beyond a couple of pictures. The Evil Queen actually spent the most time chatting before we "had our portrait done". Didn't get to see Cruella at all - her handlers were the rudest Cast Members I've ever encountered. She was first on our time list and I didn't take my invitation up. They were very rude about that and said I had to go get it (like I could have been in the club without it). I went back to my table, dug it out of my purse and when I gave it to them they said I was in the wrong place and would have to wait. They weren't being "in character" they were being awful. So I moved on to Maleficent.
Probably didn't help that the couple we were seated with were being very negative. They were there for the characters and didn't want to enjoy anything else. A peril of being seated with people you don't know.
We did the Villain's Soiree at MNSSHP last year (?) and it was so much better. And cheaper.

The tables are a bit small. On our first visit, we were lucky to be a party of three and they didn't have a solo attendee to pair us with, so we had a little extra space. On our second visit, we were a party of two seated with another party of two. They were friendly, but we still paid attention to making sure we weren't encroaching on "their" space so that added a worry that we didn't have during our first visit. That aspect wouldn't keep us from returning, though - just something to be aware of.

You sure can if you think about how much each drink would cost at Disney's prices. :drinking1

I'm sorry you missed Cruella and had poor interactions. Cruella and the Queen of Hearts had the longest lines the night we went. They tell you upon entering that it is important to keep your invitation and present it when it's your turn to see each character. Of course everyone who has entered the "club" would have an invitation - but the times are different. That's the point of presenting the invitation to the handlers - otherwise people could easily lie to see the characters earlier than they were scheduled to - not saying that's what you did, but I wouldn't put it past some people. Scheduling the visit times helps the CMs control the length of the lines as well as where the lines form.

How long does the show last? I was able to book for Saturday November 5th at 5pm but we also have the Star Wars Dessert party scheduled at 6:45. Is it possible to do both? I realize that we will be absolutely stuffed and not get the most value for our money. I could change the Star Wars Dessert party to Wednesday but that conflicts with a 4:40 reservation for Minnie's Seasonal Holiday Dinner at Hollywood & Vine and I wanted to get pictures with the characters in their Christmas outfits. Disney is making it way too hard to plan this vacation.

The show is 2 hours, so you will arrive quite late to the dessert party if you keep both. However, if the point if the dessert party is for the viewing and not the desserts (which you won't have room for, the CV desserts are DIVINE!) then you'll be fine.

ETA: could you do the late seating for CV instead?

I am right there with you. They keep releasing more and more events and I'm trying to squeeze them all into my schedule which is very difficult between ADRs and fast passes. I love that there is so much exciting stuff going on but it has turned my schedule into a hot mess. Lol

Switching the Club Villain party to the later seating would allow a little time to sober up between parties...just saying :rolleyes1

Great news: just booked the party for 11/4, my last night there. I was hoping they would extend it past Halloween.

We don't want to do the late seating because we are suppose to run the Wine n Dine Half marathon the next morning. We weren't planning on drinking too much or even drinking at all. I was able to get the dessert party for Wednesday the 9th so I will probably cancel the one on the 4th. The only problem with that plan is my friend may have to leave on the 9th instead of the 10th because of work but she won't know for sure until the week before.

Reading here about how small the tables are. What should we expect as a party of 5? Squish together at one table? Split between two? :confused3

Since tables are assigned it's okay if you're a little late? We're doing the 8:15 on November 11th after the Star Wars dessert party. I think it's going to be a really busy day in HS, and it will take us a bit to fight through the crowds

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. This is one of the few bad reviews I have read if this. I think your character issuecwas timing. Were you within the time allotted for that character on your invitation? If not, they aren't supposed to let you into the line.

I definitely didn't think the show was "adult" in nature. I took my 12 year old who is a lifelong dancer, and I wouldn't have been uncomfortable with her doing any part of that show. One of her ambitions right now is to do the CP as a performer.

The only issue you may have is missing one of your assigned M&G times.

When we were there earlier this month, we were told that you can return later than your assigned time if you miss it for some reason. We lined up for Cruella right at our assigned time for her and Maleficent (they assign two villains per time). Cruella's line was already so long that Maleficent had already gone backstage to get ready for a dance by the time we got over to her. We were able to get in line to see her as soon as she returned, but still had to show our invitation with the earlier assigned time.

I thought I asked this, but I guess not. How early should we show up before it begins?

I was there on Sept 23rd also. I had positive character interactions, but I agree that I witnessed some of the rudest CMs I've ever seen at this event. It was so odd, because all of the guests I was waiting in line with were polite and just trying to figure out the proper protocol. But several times CMs were shouty and super rude with guests for seemingly no reason at all. I did a TON of character meets on that trip in all 4 parks, and I understand that the job of being a character or line "wrangler" is not always easy -- sometimes those CMs have to be stern with people to keep things in order. But Club Villain was the only time over my entire week that I witnessed CMs being very terse with guests who were just trying to follow instructions the best they could. It was very disappointing and definitely left me with a sour taste.

That said, I DID enjoy the event overall. Great show, amazing decorations, good interactions. Food very mediocre but I was there for the atmosphere and characters.

I hope the negative aspects of recent reviews remain the exception... FINALLY just booked this for Nov...

Re: tables -- for a party of 5, all together at one or split, since it sounds like tables are SO small...?
