At what age range do you think a stroller is no longer necessary? the boy will be 5 and girl 9 thanks

My daughter never needed one (and wouldn't have been caught dead in one) past the age of 3.

I have twins that will be 4 and a half when we go in June and was wondering the same thing. When we go to the local Zoo for a few hours, they usually walk the entire time, but it's not the same as Disney World. We'll probably bring strollers and see how they do the first day or so.

We leave in 6 days and we're still debating. My twin girls are almost 7 and while they'll do perfectly fine for one day we're just not sure how they'll hold up for 8 days straight.

My 5 year old nephew used his baby sister's often last month. Honestly though, if we didn't have the stroller, he probably wouldn't have asked for one. Id skip it and if you find you need one rent it from an offsite company.

We used a double stroller for our twins until they were 7. My son gave up the stroller at 4. Depends on the kids.

My son used a stroller up to age 8. He was perfectly fine at home, and anywhere else, but in Disney he would start complaining of his feet being tired, and it was far easier to get the stroller and push him around than it was to deal with his feet bothering him. I would have been just as happy to have been done with that at 5.

OP, don't ask - just do as you, yourself, want! Usually, if someone feels the need to ask, they themselves feel their children are too old!! Everyone can agree to disagree as this thread topic 'always' ends up getting closed. There are many such threads that you can review if you will search for them.
Happy reading!! :)

It all depends on your kids. The first time I went to WDW I was 7 and my sister was 5. My parents took an umbrella stroller for my sister and she barely used it. If I had a 5 year old I would want to make them walk, but that's because I wouldn't want to push a stroller around all day. What's your son like? Can he go all day without a nap, or does he still need one? Your daughter should be old enough, but your son could be right at the cutoff point.

Agree totally differs by child but I took my twins for their 5th bday and we did not use a utroller. We did do training walks for a few months before the trip, not sure if it helped but it certainly did not hurt.

Think the first day he would be fine but after that who knows, not much of a nap taker now. thanks everyone

Yes, do training walks in advance to see how they do. Our DD had flat feet causing walking pain, we had no idea until the shoe store lady told us and then all DD's complaints made sense. Depends on the kid.

My son is 5. We haven't used a stroller in a few years, and I had no intention of using one on our trip. Well- all of my friends who do annual Disney trips told me it would be wise to use one. Thankfully I listened!!! We have annual passes to an amusement park here, as well as the zoo, and are always out and about...my son plays soccer/baseball/football/golf...but I am so glad that I didn't make him walk all of the parks all day/night. I can't tell you enough how glad I am that I rented a stroller...we had early breakfasts, took breaks from the parks to go back and "relax" for a bit at the resort- but "relaxing" to my son meant swimming and going down the volcano slide. Anyway, we went back to parks and were there until closing.. We did 8 nights. No possible way he would have made it with out a stroller! And if you have dining reservations- it comes in very handy to be able to speed walk to make it to the restaurant in time.lol

I'm sharing only because we just got done with MK an hour ago. Our twins turn 4 in a few weeks, and they did two days without any strollers. We weren't sure how it would go. It was pretty good actually.

My (then) 5 year old grandson walked. He enjoyed being able to chat, point interesting things out and so on. I think it's much easier to have regular interactions if the child isn't confined to a stroller. We did take occasion breaks which are nice for all ages.
