Kids CS Credits & Menus FAQ & Q&A

I have a question about desserts with the kids DDP... I am sorry if this has been answered. I have tried to find it but haven't come across this information. In the kids meal, say there is an applesauce or apple slices. Is that intended to be dessert for the meal? How do desserts work for kids? I am just thinking if I get a cupcake and my daughter has apple slices for dessert, she will be unhappy. I'm totally cool with this being the reality as I would share or just give the kids my dessert, I am just wondering how it works. Thanks! I see on some of the menu that there are "kids desserts" but some menus do not have that. Thanks again.

Most, but not all, QS places have a cookie or something similar you can substitute for the fruit. It's in small print, so you'll have to look for it, but that is pretty much it for desserts at QS places for the kid's meals.

TS usually has ice cream or some kind of "make your own" creation for the kid's dessert.

However, their desserts are definitely not as big and scrumptious as the adults, so be prepared to share.

@sharonabe - Thank you! You have solved a great mystery for me. And I don't mind sharing! :) Awesome. So cookies, make your own stuff, and sharing. Sounds good to me! :) I'm sure we'll all get enough sugar through the week anyways between the desserts and snacks! :) Thank you!

Can my kids order the sandwich choice at tortuga? All I see for the kids is mac and cheese and pb and j.

SusanneF, from what I read here http://blog.touringplans.com/2015/05/29/changes-coming-to-the-disney-dining-plan-beginning-may-31/ (hope it's ok to add a link to anohter site?!) it looks like as of this past May 2015, QS credits no longer enforce kids menu vs adult items and that credits can be used for either. I'm happy about that because I have two very picky eaters that put their nose up to just about everything LOL! I'm extremely overwhelmed just looking through the menus trying to find options that they'll even eat. Fingers crossed the DDP works out for us, meanwhile I'll be obsessing about Disney menus until we arrive :surfweb:

Is this accurate? Following that link and the comments, it seems iffy. blogger assures its accurate, other say they were told it was not. I'm debating dropping our DDP (1TS, 1QD, 1S) for two adults and two kids due to the pretty mundane repetitive offerings for kids; but this would likely make me stick with it. Really disappointed that WDW seems to think kids only eat PBJ, Grilled Cheese and Chick Nuggs.

"Quick service locations will also not enforce the mixture of adult and child entitlements. Guests with two adults and two children on the Quick Service Dining Plan can choose four adult meals, if they prefer."

Would that cost 4 adult QS credits, or 2 adult and 2 kids; assuming two adults and two kids ate the meals.

I agree, my kids don't live on Mac and cheese and pb and j. It would be great if they can get something else.

My kids love Chinese, Mexican, BBQ, etc. They will be bumbed if we go to say Flame Tree or Yak and Yeti and they are stuck with mass produced crappy PBJ's that don't even have the crust (the best part).

The brochure still stays children must order from the children's menu.

There is no distinction between adults and children quick service credits.

Supersnoop,

Taking your two comments, does that mean that at a QS a kid can get any meal, say a BBQ sandwich from Flame Tree and use a kid CS credit? But, at a TS place they have to order off the kids menu? If that is accurate that would be fine; but is that a formal policy somewhere or just some CS will allow it?

The kids menus are not all pb and j or mac and cheese. Take a look on line at some of the menus, and you will find there is more variety than that. Turkey sandwiches, chicken and waffles, pasta are just the first things I found when looking at kids quick service meals. For table service you can find steak, salmon, and flat breads.

Thanks, I looked and will probably go to the QS thay have those options.

correct, for years people have been doing this on the sly. Have the kids sit at the table and the adult order all. Heck we used to order 2 adults CS and split between the 4 of us do to the amount of food.
Now they have come out and said, the CS are all together so order away

We recently received a package from WDW which stated our DDP credits, it shows 12 adult TS, 12 child TS / 12 adult QS, 12 child QS / 24 snack. Received this back in maybe in October or November so maybe it changed since then, but it clearly delineated between child and adult QS credits. I understand what you are saying, I just want to make sure if we go and I walk up and order 4 adult QS meals, that they don't use 4 adult QS credits and leave me with more kid credits unused. Is there a technique to making this work right?

If you attend a TS on the DDP, and it is a buffet, kids can eat anything right? They are not stuck to selecting the "kids offering"?

I'm not sure what dianey policy is on it, but my kids have gotten anything there is on the buffet.

Have anyone been in the last few weeks? I wonder if the quick service rules are changes if people are suggesting they are now listed separately

They've always been listed separately up front, but they've never been tracked separately. Nothing changed in the way the system worked. The rumored/reported/unsubstantiated changes are only to enforcement by the person running the register.

Let me see if I can clear away some of the mud. QS "rules" about kids have not changed, and neither has the way Disney tracks the QS meals. They were never separated out. The blog posted above was one about rumored changes to take place last May/June. Some of those changes did officially take place and some did not. The kids ordering adult meals is one that did not OFFICIALLY change. The brochure still states that kids must order from the kid's menu where available, and that is on both QS and TS.

However, more and more people are reporting here that they are getting adult QS meals for/with their child QS credits without problem all over WDW. In fact many CMs are encouraging it when asked about it.

BUT please keep in mind, the brochure still states kid's must order from the kid's menu, so they can decide to enforce this rule property-wide at any time. Just because someone got an adult meal for their child today, does not guarantee you will get to do the same tomorrow. At some point, the bean counters are going to notice they are losing money, and there are only two choices if they want to plug that hole: Enforce the rules or raise the price of kid's DDP.
