what are the best shoes to wear in the parks?? Has anyone worn their converse? Just trying to figure out what I should take. Making a packing list now and I have no idea where to start. Thanks!

I used to wear vans converse, shoes like that, do not do it! In my experience my feet were always killing me after a few hours in the park, I always wanted to sit and take off my shoes. I always thought this was just from all the walking until I bought a pair of running/walking shoes. You know like actual sneakers like Nike or something. My feet have not bothered me since! I also sometimes switch to flip flops if I go back to the room for a break and feel like letting my feet breathe for the last couple hours but I wouldn't suggest wearing flip flops the majority of your day. You can get a pair of running shoes from like marshals, Burlington, Nordstrom rack for like 40 bucks, I highly reccomand it.

Yeeeeah, don't wear converses. You're asking for blisters and sore feet in general. Those have no support whatsoever. Grab yourself a pair of running sneakers (with good arch support) if that's what you want to wear into the parks, otherwise, flippy-floppys like poster above me said, not for majority of the day. Went in with flip flops, died about 2 hours in, definitely walked around the parks barefoot for awhile.

You could even grab Crocs (not fashionable, but who even cares) for cheap at an outlet.

I have a nice broken in pair of Skechers GoWalks that I'm planning to wear in the parks. I've walked distance in them and they're really comfy.

Thanks! I need a new pair of tennis shoes, so I'm gonna order a pair of asics and I'll take a pair of my sanuk flip flops to switch to in the evenings.

Wear shoes you find comfortable. Everyone says Converse are uncomfortable and offer no support but I find them very comfortable...I haven't worn them to Disney yet so maybe I'm wrong, but I can wear them out all day walking around shopping and running errands and love them. They're definitely coming with me to see how I fare with them.

I'm also bringing cross-trainers (I don't have any dedicated running shoes right now), Skechers GoWalk2 Supersock slip-ons, Sanuk Yoga Mat flip flops, and Sanuk Yoga 2 Sling sandals.

I've done all different types of shoes/sneakers. If they aren't specifically designed for being on your feet all day/marathon running, look into the custom for you inserts (dr schools being one of the cheapest options and easy to look up onlnie where to find the machine to stand on to find out which ones you should buy). They will make any sneaker into a great comfortable to be on your feet all day choice. I personally get myself a new pair of running shoes every trip. They cost a little more but they breath well for water/heat and really comfortable.

I also carry 1 pair of socks in a zip lock bag, the worst year for my feet there was a lot of rain and my feet were always wet. Even if I left to change or take a break, I still had to talk a mile or two in wet socks and the damage was done before I could take them off.

You are very, very brave. I just remember having a terrible experience with them years back having to walk home from high school and it's about a 2.5 mile walk and it was the worst experience of my sneaker life. Never again.

Well, we'll see how I do in them! I may end up not wanting to wear them all day once I'm there. I plan to take my Sanuk flip flops in my backpack on the days I start out wearing my Converse or New Balance cross-trainers in case my feet get too hot or the shoes are uncomfortable. They'll either be great or terrible. Haha!

Much luck! You are going to be in the parks in less than 48 hours at this point! :D

I thought I was okay wearing old comfortable sneakers until I wound up with bad blisters on the soles of both feet--I wore them two days in a row--mistake--you should have two pairs of comfortable shoes to alternate each day--yes I also had an extra pair of socks with me each day and changed midday so my feet were kept dry--I had to wear Moleskin on the bottoms of my feet for the rest of my stay so I could walk on the blisters--MOLESKIN saved my life--bring it with you just in case!! Also used bengay type analgesic cream every night on my feet, lower legs and knees to help with any discomfort from walking all day long.

I take a pair of Asics and a pair of Saucony on our trips plus a pair of teva sandals just in case of rain and I come home with no blisters. Wearing the same shoes each day can cause hot spots that can cause blisters. Another trick I learned from marathon friends was to put Bodyglide on my feet and between my toes...works like a charm.

My current favorites are Asics Cumulus and Nike Flex Experience 3. I also wear good quality running socks. The Nike pair especially are incredibly comfortable for long park days.

Where can you get Body Glide (or similar)?

The easiest spot to it is in the running department of sports goods stores. Otherwise I think you can find it in large first aid departments.

For shoes I mostly wear Crocs & my favorite running shoes.
