How Do You Conquer the Post-Disney Blues?

Can I move to where you live? I'm so done with the snow. LOL! After last winter, we're making plans to move South when we retire.

Like most things, there are trade off's - it is face melting hot in the summer! I am in Louisiana, and when we went to WDW in August, it was cooler. So while you see many people asking how to beat the Florida heat, to me it wasn't so bad. I would love to live in the north during the summer and in the south during the winter - with maybe a little winter wonderland excursion every now and then. After all - Christmas lights look best draped in snow.... or draped over a castle :-)

On a side note...I heard the first Halloween Party at Disney World was ridiculously packed! People were complaining about Disney overselling tickets to that event. They said the lines for Candy were insane!

I did hear about that, however I was watching the ride times on MDE and they were ridiculously low. Big Thunder and Space Mountain were posted at 5 minutes most of the night and the Mine Train was at 30. Seems everyone was packed in for the parade/candy/meet and greets.

ETA: Yes, part of my Disney Blues includes still checking ride times when I am months away from being there!

I like to book our trip in late October or early November. When we get back I am sad, but than I start getting excited about Christmas!

Oh....so sad...I think listening to music my make me feel worse...not sure. I have several friends who have become snow birds. They are flying south mid-October. I love the fall! Wouldn't trade it...it's my favorite time of the year!

I know. I just can't stop listening to the music. And keep looking at the days saying what were we doing at Disney at this time?

The good thing is that we love the heat. DW is always cold. She never complains when we go to Disney in August. We always travel in the summer. We've been many times to Disney in August, and do everything that we need to do to beat the heat. The North is nice from Spring to Fall. The winters are getting worse every year. We got blasted with snow this past winter. My DS had to make up over a week of school in June. I'm waiting to be able to decorate my outdoor lights at Christmas in shorts and a t-shirt instead of it being so cold your hands get numb trying to put up the lights. Bring on the heat!!! :thumbsup2

I didn't even think about cold hands hanging lights! Great point!

Plan your next trip and start saving!!! In between trips, I watch Disney movies, listen to Pandora Disney Radio Station, listen to the DIS Unplugged Podcast Show, and You Tube videos featuring other people's vacations. (my daughters says I'm weird!!!) Although I've been to WDW countless of times, I never get tired of going back!!! There is always something new to do!!!

LOL....you are too funny! Well...it is a way to plan for the best time to go based on your own predictions considering all the tracking of EVERYTHING in the parks that you do!

After a year of planning to go this November....I'm now planning how to deal with coming home from my trip when I haven't even taken my trip yet! LOL! Gotta be prepared! It's super hot here today, summer is hanging in. I do not like the extreme heat and humidity and would never go to Disney in August...it would kill me. But...I've never been during Christmas Decorations...and much cooler weather. I am so looking forward to all the lights!

What a relief!!! I thought I was the only one still checking ride times from home!!! P.S. Big Thunder Mountain currently has only a 30 minute wait time (9/17/2015; 1:49 PM) hahahahahaha!!!!

"Have I gone mad?" "I'm afraid so, you are entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret, all the best people are."

I have been at Christmas before - it is stunning! You will love it!

Christmas at Disney is great. And this is the last year for the Osbourne Lights at HS.

To stave off the post-trip blues... I book my next trip. :cutie:

Writing a Trip Report and Dining Report here on the DIS helps me a lot, too. (As does starting the Pre-Trip Report for the next trip!) :thumbsup2

I was a disney CM for 4 months and just left a few weeks ago. The post-Disney blues are very alive & well. I find that listening to the music from the parks and stalking these boards makes me feel happy but also sad!

and yes. I'm in the midst of planning my next trip :)

I heard about the Osbourne lights moving on. Where are they going? So glad I'm going to get to see them before they leave. Getting ready to cruise on Monday...Carnival...to the Caribbean! Then come home and get ready for Disney! So excited! I hope I'm not too sad when I return home.

I find that very little helps right away after a Disney trip. I can look at my pictures some but it still hurts! I have yet to write a trip report even though I mean to each time I go but I'm too depressed when I come back. It takes a month or two to feel better enough to go to the Boards. It's crazy. Even planning and anticipating the next trip doesn't help much.

Just time! And distractions!

Wow...it's the Magical Let Down! I guess when you have all that Magic and all that Joy...the pendulum must swing the other way...otherwise we wouldn't have that level of joy to begin with! I know this doesn't help but I agree....time...is the most likely healer.

Yes, I'm learning that time does seem to help. But the feeling never goes away. And now I just received some information regarding the specials for the "Magical Deal" for August to Labor Day 2016. I know that DW wants to take a year off, but I still inquired about the special and got some price quotes. Big mistake!!! I know that I'm just torturing myself!!!

I saw that email from Magical Vacations! I did not inquire....but I understand why you did. Next year I'm going to Universal Studios during Halloween Horror Nights....the other love of my life! What are you going to do?

I don't know yet. I so much want to go back next year, but when I mentioned that a new deal came out for next year, she said she wasn't interested going back next year. I want to stay at the GF next time, and she really wants to try the BC. The price quotes I received were fantastic. We wanted to go with a group of friends next time. They were talking about going when our kids graduate from high school. Which won't be for another 4 years. No way I can wait that long. I have two nieces that want us to go with them when they go back. They love the fact that I do all the planning. But as of right now, nothing is being talked about. We did have some talk about going on another vacation next year (2016) with the group of friends. But nothing mentioned about Disney. So everything is up in the air. I'm a planner, and need something in place to look forward to.
