2015 Dining Plan Prices (LINK TO CHANGES IN DINING PLAN REDEMPTION 5/31/15

I'm trying to decide if I want the dining plan or not, but confused about the buffet prices. If you "know" please explain ....These are some of my reservations and questions I have.

• Biergarten at Epcot reserved for dinner and the menu on line says it is ($30-$59.99). I'm guessing it will be $59.99 per adult and $30.00 for a child...? Is that correct?
• Chef Mickey -Dinner - Menu says 30-59.99...Again is it 59.99 per adult for dinner...$30 for child...or is it 59.99 for everyone for dinner and $30 for breakfast? Or?
• Crystal Palace --Dinner ---( 15-29.99) or (30-59.99) ??
• 1900 Park ---We have a breakfast and a Dinner reserved there...Menu says $15-$29.99---I'm guessing this is breakfast

and $30-$59.99 --guessing this is for dinner? Is that correct?
All of our other meals will be counter service.....except Planet Hollywood---Their menu isn't buffet so no explanation needed...

They're not saying that each of those restaurants has a price of $30-$59.99. They're giving a rating to each restaurant based on price, with $ being the cheapest, and $$$$ being the most expensive. $ is $14.99 and under, $$ is $15-$29.99, $$$ is $30.00-$59.99, and $$$$ is over $60. What they're saying then is that all those restaurants fall in the range of $30.00 and $59.99. There's a sticky in the main Restaurant forum where a CM posts the prices of the buffet and all you can eat (AYCE) places:

Most of the explanations given here already have already given answers to my questions. Except one very odd one....was thinking if there is a special corner or place to get Chinese menu.

If we are using the DDP and use 2 entitlements for a signature meal are their exclusions in what we can order?? (except adult beverages)

No exclusions from any menu item that is made for one person. If it is an item to share (such as entree for two, or a large pizza) then two people need to order it or it is excluded.

So based on my math I did a cheap day and an expensive day. Selecting Chef Mickeys and the most expensive counter service I could find plus desert. Picked a EPCOT Food and Wine festival snack. The total was 69.00. For the cheap day I went to 50's prime time cafe entree and dessert and got a burger for counter and a mickey ice cream it was 42.00 I did not do kids calculations. So any day where you do not spend the maximum on the dining plan, you are spending more on the dining plan if you do not count the refillable mug.

The counter service plan I tried to spend the most I could and it got to 35.96.

So it seems like in most situations the dining plan is now not worth the cost of the dining plan. You would have to really work hard to make it worth it.

Not necessarily, it really depends on your eating habits and the type of dining you like. We paid OOP for the DxDDp last June for 2 adults and 2 kids, and came out way ahead. This year we got free dining and our son is an adult. After calculating all of our dining, we are still coming out way ahead even if we took the great room only offer that we had instead, in fact we are really saving since our son is an adult now.

We don't eat signature meals, we do a lot of Character Dining and eat average CS. The savings really comes from character dining. It is so expensive!!!

What you should say is that in many cases the DDP is not a savings. We always find we are ahead and we don't work at it. I know where my family likes to dine and know what they generally order, so I know that for us the plan works. My DD tracks our orders and after we get home she checks to see if the plan was indeed a savings. So far we are all to nothing. No lost funds yet. Now I don't say the DDP is the no brainer it used to be, it is not, but so far we save a little.

If we can all share credits, and since we are always over our allotment, and order appetizers to share, we want to see his this works for us. Taking two little princesses in a first Disney trip is expensive especially when they gave s list a mile long of characters and princesses they must meet! Lol!

That's an interesting experiment. I'd definitely love to hear how it works out! We usually have 2 or 3 rooms when we go with our preferred travel buddies. Please come back and update us after your trip!!

I sure will! WE had booked several 2 credit meals, and had some breakfasts for the kids as well, so we are way over. I think it will be interesting to see if the "new rules" about sharing made this worth it. Because we have two little ones in that room the additional expense was not too much, relatively speaking, so if this sharing business does not work, well.....That room will be eating a lot!!!!!!!

We will be a party of 9 people (2 adults and kids ages 14,12,11,9,8,7,and 4), with only one of our rooms (1 adult, 4 small kids) on the reservation that has the Deluxe Dining Plan. We are doing a split stay (only 2 nights with the DxDP) and always get TIW anyway. My big kids normally eat off the kids' menu, so I would think that they could share those credits in a regular restaurant, but I'm wondering how that would work with a buffet. We've only used DxDP when it was just the 2 of us grown-ups, so I've never paid attention to if the credits were pooled. Anyone with any experience? We booked the plan before they made the changes about sharing credits --- we just wanted the extra snacks!

There's no sharing at buffets - you'd get charged a credit for every person who eats there.

I understand that part - just not sure if with the DxDP we get for example, "30 credits" (1 adult, 4 kids, 2 nights), or if they are broken into "6 adult, 24 child" credits, and then how those would be charged at a buffet if these "credits" are shared according to the new interpretation of the policy.

You'll get charged the total number of credits; adult or child. If you'd prefer to pay for the children out of pocket and redeem credits for the adults, you should be able to do that.

No...just 30 credits..no kids credit or adult credits just 30 credits
for example..2 of your older children don't go with you to dinner.. you could aactually 2 adults nnot onthe plan Iin their place

Quick question. We are on the regular dining plan and we have BOG breakfast reservation. Can I order off the kids menu even though I'm an adult and still use one of our counter service credits? It is just my husband and I so no kids with us.

Yes you can, but it's not a very good use, financially, of an adult QS credit.

I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered but from the link in post #1 it says that QS credits for adults and children are interchangeable... what exactly does this mean? there are 4 of us (3 adults 1 child) on regular DP 1 snack, 1 QS, and 1 TS per day... does this mean the child does not have to choose from childs menu at QS?
