If it wasn't for bad luck we would have no luck at all...Update 1/4 Evening at the Magic Kingdom

oh my.. The Poly!!! My LOVE! My heart! MY HOME!!!
i CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR what they give you this is just SO EXCITING!

My prayers to your family with your loss...

So jealous you will get to stay at a Deluxe resort! I'll probably never make it to any of them because I'm never in the room and can't justify the expense.

I'm not sure where you are flying out of or what airlines are available. I always fly Southwest because they give your two checked bags free!

It would be difficult to narrow down the Deluxe hotels. I would stay at any of them. I liked your choices though.

Hopefully, you will hear back soon.

Thank you for the prayers. It is so hard waiting to hear where we will stay and when we will go!

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in 2006, but other than that we have always stayed at moderates or values. Our last two trips we stayed at Pop! Century. We seemed to spend more time in the room when our kids are little. Henry was still taking 2 naps a day when we went in June of 2013.

A deluxe hotel will be amazing!

It was so hard to narrow it down! They did offer us the option of picking "Any" hotel. One way I narrowed it down was to pick a place where most of the rooms sleep 5.

Even though there are only 4 of us, we also tend to choose ones that sleep 5, because nobody really wants to share with my 6' + 20-yr old son. We stayed at Pop last year, and he chose to sleep on the floor. So, from now on, we either need 2 rooms or sleeps 5.

We just got an email from Disney!

Drum roll please...:rockband:

They booked our trip for October 9-13th at the

Beach Club!:beach:

:jumping1:

We have a reservation number and we can pick our MagicBands! And now I can make some ADR's!!

:cool1:

Yay!!!!!! So excited for you guys! Can't wait to hear all about it!

We stayed at Beach Club on our first trip. It is nice not having to take a bus to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. And my youngest really liked the pool and slide there. Plus, you have Beaches and Cream close.

Congratulations! You will be at Beach Club during the Food and Wine festival. The back entrance to Epcot is just steps away and we love it. Enjoy!

So now that we have our dates we are trying to decide on which parks to go to on which dates. I really want to try and make some dining reservations.

We logged into My Disney Experience and picked our Magic Bands but they didn't have Henry on the reservation so I will have to see how we add him. We may not be able to do that until we buy his ticket.

Of the 5 days we are at WDW, 3 of the days have Mickey's Not so Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. But we do have park hopper passes so we can hop to Epcot, in the evening, or just enjoy the pool at the Beach Club.

Anyone have any planning tips?

We are also trying to decide on a character meal. We were looking online at the menus and Chef Mickey's sounds good. There are a lot of bad reviews from dinner at Chef Mickey's but the new menu posted on Disney's website sounded like they were trying to improve it. I am considering a day at the Magic Kingdom and then dinner at Chef Mickey's. We have had breakfast at Chef Mickey's on previous trips. And 2 years ago we had breakfast at Tusker House.

If you haven't--check out the crowd calendars before you pick a park for each day. I always find them super helpful. Mostly I use easywdw.com for crowd calendars, but there are others out there too.

Ahhh Beach Club is my DREAM!! AND during Food & Wine!!!!! How exciting for you. I faithful check mousesavers each week and enter all the contests every. single. day. Including the Food Network contest! While I haven't won one (yet) it is so nice to know that real people actually do win these contests. Congrats to you and your family!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Beach CLUB!!! How EXCITING!
:cloud9: pixiedust: :cloud9: pixiedust: :cloud9:
you sure were pixi dusted!!! YOU HAVE to spend time at the pool!!!!
my pick of a character meal would be Ohana breakfast! if you do Chef Mickey's you can also watch wishes from the Contemporary! ohhhhhhhhh HOW WONDERFUL!
I am just over the moon excited for you! check the closing too and see what attractions your REALLY must do and go from there!

:jumping1:

I'm just catching up to your post! So sorry for all of the bad luck!

But Yippee!!!! On the win and confirmation of your trip! My fiance and I will be there
from Sept 27-Oct 4 - Should be a good season to go - less crowds!

The Beach Club is one of our favorite resorts. The kids will love the pool. And the weather will be warm enough to enjoy it.

We logged into My Disney Experience and picked our Magic Bands but they didn't have Henry on the reservation so I will have to see how we add him. We may not be able to do that until we buy his ticket.
Once you call and have Henry listed on the reservation then he would get a Magic Band. MB's are tied to resort reservations, not tickets, so anyone staying in the room would get a MB even if they didn't have tickets.

We are also trying to decide on a character meal.
Cape May at the Beach Club has a very nice character breakfast. That would be the easiest place to eat. We also liked Tusker House at the AK. Epcot is great for meals and with Food and Wine going on it will be very easy to go into the park to grab something to eat. We always go to Epcot on our arrival day. It is right next door. And you can see the Illuminations fireworks from the resort. The best view is from the boat dock but there are other good viewing areas, too. :)

I'm jumping in from Mo's ptr. So happy for you to have won a trip and change your streak of bad luck. That same thing (irs) happened to both my sister and her hubby! They owed $12,000, so the government was only too happy to take their check. But what a mess!!!!

As for using the magic bands, they are so great! And simple. They open your room door, get you into the parks, pay for food and souvenirs and get you into attractions for fastpasses. Love them! I do not love the new fastpass system. I much preferred the paper tickets and being able to get them when you get there instead of planning so far in advance. But, still better than nothing and better than having to pay for the fastpass privilege.

Have you given any thought to adding a couple of days to your trip? You could switch to Pop or somewhere to keep the cost down. Just a thought.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandmother. She sounds like a wonderful person.

Can't wait to hear more about your plans. This is very exciting to all of us who enter the contests and never win. We can live vicariously through you! Have a great day!

A little bit more bad luck, and some plans are coming together for the trip!

First the bad luck.
Back on my son's birthday we were just hanging out here at home, and my Sister in law and her 2 boys were here playing with my kids.
Occasionally I would glance at things on my phone, and I noticed the WIFI was staying connected. So we rebooted the WIFI in the house and it really didn't help much.

The next day, my grandmother passed away and we were busy getting ready to go out of town and my phone still wasn't staying connected, and it seemed to be acting weird.

We started on our journey to Illinois that night and early in the morning we stopped at a Starbucks in Indiana, Free WIFI and coffee and pastries! Great place to stop. My phone wouldn't connect to the WIFI, it also stopped keeping time, and I couldn't text my mom. Imessage wouldn't work and it wouldn't send it as a text either. Once we go to Illinois we started trying some various things to fix the issues but nothing helped.
We came back home and tried wiping it then syncing it back up but still, it won't keep time and uses up data like crazy. It is an Apple iphone 5C and I have had it a little more than a year so we are taking it to the Apple Store on Sunday to see if we can get it fixed or replaced.
