Canadian Buffoon's Solo Disney Vacation - Update 07/08! pp99 - Here today gone tomorrow

Wow, I sure wish I had found this TR earlier. I totally nailed the scuba dive adventure, but I'm a day (or several late) and a sand dollar short! As you might be able to tell by my avatar, I'm a diver. I've been an aquarium diver, so I will do a little correction--that wasn't a stingray, it was an eagle ray you were trying to get closer to the glass (not trying to offend, just inform! 8-) :fish:) And since I've been enjoying this so much, here's my guesses on what happens next:

1. Spaceship Earth
2. Illuminations, since it's kind of late and you are probably happily tired from the dive so I'm hoping you aren't hopping!
3. 45 minutes, since that's how long everyone seems to think the busses take!

I wish I could have given you this hint for spreading pixie dust before, but just in case you or someone else does this dive in the future: Next time, play Rock, Paper, Scissors with the kids. They really get a kick out of it! pixiedust:

oh my ok I was way off in my explanation i think because you thought the opposite of what I was trying to convey lol Anyhoo.... I love meeting Disney friends I find it makes me trips now extra magical :D

Ah. So you have had some DISmeets and liked them.
Okay. I think we may be on the same page now.

Almost.

Maybe.

and yes southern Ontario and I have not seen snow in July but I have seen it in June n loved it so much :D

:sad2:

I love snow too. When it goes away, it's wonderful.

Ummm.... I've been sick (just a cold... but you know how those things knock you out.) and I'm beat.
I'll finish shout outs tomorrow.

Nighty night folks.

Awww, Ponzi, I LOVE the story about your childhood books and ensuing fascination with the undersea world.

Thanks Tracy! :)
I haven't thought about those books in years... and now that I have,
I want to read them again!

It also explains your fascination with mermaids

Only red headed ones though.
There's something fishy about the other ones. :rolleyes1

It now makes so much more sense why you don't shudder at the thought of scuba diving! Plus Disney changes a lot of things for us, doesn't it?!

It's funny actually.
When I was writing that chapter, I was trying to figure it out.
Just what was it that got me so interested in Scuba?
The first thing I thought of was those books.
But then I remembered the Cousteau TV shows.
And then I remembered that James Bond movie.

Yup. That's it.
It was only when I read and re-read the update that all of a sudden I remembered.
20,000 Leagues. Church basement. OMG.
I remember being enthralled by that movie.
But just barely. I was probably 3 or 4 years old.

That must be my first exposure to the underwater world.

I also vaguely remember Pinocchio and his walk on the sea floor.
And a comic book that told the story of the Bathyscaphe Trieste and its voyage.

Sorry. Probably more info than you care to know.

Wow! What an incredible, amazing experience you must have had!!! However, I'm not so sure I would have been as able to forget about the sharks as you were...

I really did kind of forget about them.
So when I came face to face with one, it was a little unnerving on many levels.

Oh my goodness, I nearly cried at the video of you with the child touching hands. Pixie dust spreading? CHECK.

Wasn't that great? :goodvibes
When we watched it after the dive, everyone, including Melissa, went "Awwww....".

You mean to tell me you have a shadow just like Peter Pan?! :thumbsup2

 Yeah, I guess I do!

Okay, my responses:
1) Spaceship Earth
2) Fantasmic
3) 22 minutes

Check!

I will! (PM me the deets on price. Maybe I can set up a surprise for him....)

I did!

You succeeded!

Fine. I should have said "the next Cousteauesque diver/explorer". That way it wouldn't really matter if they knew who he was or not. Savvy?

Argh.

I mean, Aye!

I mean yes!!

But then you'd end up with a shirt that didn't fit.

I could use it as a headband.
Or a rag.

That shirt is going for $20 on ebay. Maybe I will take it if I win!!!

You heard it here first folks! A prize package valued at over $20.

I may never eat Taco Bell again. I had a mexican pizza last night and I'm still sick!

Made a run for the border didja? :rolleyes1

Wow, I sure wish I had found this TR earlier.

Me too!

:welcome: to the TR!

I totally nailed the scuba dive adventure, but I'm a day (or several late) and a sand dollar short!

No retro bonus points!
Actually, I'm secretly glad the beans didn't get spilled ahead of time.
I knew that if there was someone reading who'd done it before, they'd guess it.

Uh... Have you done Epcot DiveQuest? Or were you referring to other aquariums?
If so, which?

I've been an aquarium diver, so I will do a little correction--that wasn't a stingray, it was an eagle ray you were trying to get closer to the glass (not trying to offend, just inform! 8-) :fish:)

Oh, yeah. I knew it was an eagle ray.
I thought about putting in more descriptive names, (like that sand tiger shark)
but decided to keep it at terms that everyone could understand.

But thanks! Ya never know, I might not have known what it was.
And truthfully, I didn't know before the dive, but Melissa mentioned it.

And since I've been enjoying this so much, here's my guesses on what happens next:

1. Spaceship Earth
2. Illuminations, since it's kind of late and you are probably happily tired from the dive so I'm hoping you aren't hopping!
3. 45 minutes, since that's how long everyone seems to think the busses take!

Glad you've been enjoying the TR! :goodvibes
And I check your answers.

I wish I could have given you this hint for spreading pixie dust before, but just in case you or someone else does this dive in the future: Next time, play Rock, Paper, Scissors with the kids. They really get a kick out of it! pixiedust:

 Thanks for the hint! I just might use that one!

:scared1: <Backs oh so slowly away>

You fight dirty! Shoulda known. It goes with your mind.

giphy-16.gif

Is there any other why to fight? :scratchin
It's not about if you win or lose its how dirty you get playing the game ;)That was our school motto...May explain why it was shut down...:rolleyes1

You seem so sure... Ah. Got it. It was you.
Just one question.
Do you habitually engage in peeping tom activities or is it just an occasional dalliance?

Trust me it was not intentional....:sad2:

Scarred. For. Life. :scared1:

:rotfl:

Is there any other why to fight? :scratchin

Yes.
Of course.

The losing side's way.

I never remember if it's the Marquess of Queensberry rules,
or the Marquis de Sade rules.

One of those, anyway.

It's not about if you win or lose its how dirty you get playing the game ;)That was our school motto...May explain why it was shut down...:rolleyes1

You'd think with a motto like that, they wouldn't go down without a fight.

I mean they wouldn't cease being a school without a fight.... :rolleyes1

Trust me it was not intentional....:sad2:

Scarred. For. Life. :scared1:

:rotfl:

:rotfl:
Oh you poor thing! Quick somebody get her an opthamologist!!
Don't worry! It's only a little problem.

Yes.
Of course.

The losing side's way.

Losing? :confused3 Nope, sorry you lost me. I'm like Charlie Sheen....without all the drugs and ladies of questionable reputations...got my own for that ;)

You'd think with a motto like that, they wouldn't go down without a fight.

I mean they wouldn't cease being a school without a fight.... :rolleyes1

The going down part might have made things worse...:rolleyes1

:rotfl:
Oh you poor thing! Quick somebody get her an opthamologist!!
Don't worry! It's only a little problem.

No, no, that's okay. It's safer if things are blurry...just in case...:scared1:

I really, really, really should have said mermaids.
Perfect opportunity, but nooooooo....

So annoyed...
and disappointed.

200.gif

Well, dear fellow... I asked and... mermaids everywhere...
200-15 copy.gif
forgive you. ;)
Is it on your endless list of Disney movies to watch?
Or is it just animations?
It is now because you suggested it!
Nope. Not really.
I was a goofy looking kid.

Not like now.

Now I'm a goofy looking old dude.
umm...you say this after seeing my baby and Hobbit like toddler pictures?
Surely a mermaid can outrun some ol' sharks?
Maybe, but really who wants to risk it?

Sorry, Brucie. Go get some take out. I'm not for sale.
:rotfl:
I keep looking at that.
Dan Aykroyd? On SNL?
LAND SHARK! yes Sir Smart A** SNL ::yes::
All those kids with their huge grins! They were experiencing Disney Magic...
and I made it happen! :goodvibes
:goodvibes
I'd love that! :goodvibes
We're only a short 20+ hour drive away!
I've been to Alberta twice, and we're going to be in Vancouver BC at some point but we're taking the train. Maybe one day we'll meet up at WDW!:wizard:

And that was my diving experience at The Living Seas!
It sounds wonderful to have in your memory banks and you made it just as magical for others!
1. I did do one more attraction that evening.
What was the next attraction that I visited?
SOARIN'! Because you had been in the seas and now had to balance it with the skies!
2. I did see a nighttime show that night,
did I stay for Illuminations? Or go to another park?
(Wishes? Fantasmic!?)
It was Wishes -or maybe that is just wishful thinking.
3. At whichever park I happen to end the night...
how long do I wait for the bus?
It was just pulling up as you arrived so you didn't have to wait! (does this actually happen ever?!)
wow that is pretty cool!
Well, you know. Because only about 200 other divers have tried doing crap like that to him.
200.gif

Woohoo! Bout time being shameless paid off, other than in free drinks...:rolleyes1
::yes:: *giggles*
As long as they weren't sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads.

sharks_w_laser_beams.jpg
:worship:
If @pkondz doesn't award bonus points for this one, I'll award you totally fake, useless bonus points, because there is nothing cooler than sharks with frickin' laser beams.
::yes::
You know that guy? In the James Bond movie who gets killed?
Yeah, I'm all of them.
You were great in those movies! ;)
Ummm.... I've been sick (just a cold... but you know how those things knock you out.) and I'm beat.
Feel better soon my friend!

Losing? :confused3 Nope, sorry you lost me.

I said you fight dirty.
You asked if there was another way.
Yes there is. The other way is to not fight dirty... ergo, the losing way.

I'm like Charlie Sheen....without all the drugs and ladies of questionable reputations...got my own for that ;)

Got your own?
Are you referring to yourself as your own lady of questionable reputation?

The going down part might have made things worse...:rolleyes1

"Might".

Might she says.

No, no, that's okay. It's safer if things are blurry...just in case...:scared1:

Good plan. You're far better off that way.

Well, dear fellow... I asked and... mermaids everywhere...
forgive you.

<phew!>

But I'm still annoyed with myself.

It is now because you suggested it!

Oh, boy. It was amazing to a very young pkondz... a very long time ago...
I wonder how it will stand up to the test of time?

umm...you say this after seeing my baby and Hobbit like toddler pictures?

Yes... I've seen your oh-so-adorable toddler pictures, lady.

Maybe, but really who wants to risk it?

Good point.

LAND SHARK! yes Sir Smart A** SNL ::yes::

Ah. I really couldn't remember!
I was... oh... 90% sure... but didn't remember that particular scene.

I've been to Alberta twice, and we're going to be in Vancouver BC at some point but we're taking the train. Maybe one day we'll meet up at WDW!:wizard:

You have no idea how much I'd love that!!!

It sounds wonderful to have in your memory banks and you made it just as magical for others!

:goodvibes
It's definitely not something I'm likely to forget!

SOARIN'! Because you had been in the seas and now had to balance it with the skies!
It was Wishes -or maybe that is just wishful thinking.
It was just pulling up as you arrived so you didn't have to wait! (does this actually happen ever?!)

Got it!
And yes it does! It happened when I went from AK to AKL on day one.

That's your best one yet!

You were great in those movies! ;)

I was killer!

I mean killed.

Feel better soon my friend!

Already am! Just about over it.
It was just a cold.
I have two sure fire ways to get rid of one. Works every time.
Method 1. Drink plenty of fluids. Stay in bed under the covers. Take Echinacea and Tylenol for fever or advil for aches. Steam the sinuses. Get plenty of sleep.
Doing this will result in the cold being conquered in about a week.

Method 2. Don't do anything different than if I didn't have a cold.
Doing this will result in the cold being conquered in about a week.

And yes it does! It happened when I went from AK to AKL on day one.
Oopsie doodle I forgot. :( I plead RUM!

Thank

oh...
I mean killed.
Having been drawn in comic books as dying and/or a corpse more times than I care t think about...i relate.

Professor Elemental of course! Queensbury Rules. ;)
Oh, dear Lord. The two of you.... together?????

First of all WOW! Just Wow! I've often wondered what those experiences are like. Thank you so much for sharing yours with us. Second, I'm going to need some pity points. Pleeeeeaaaase. I have been a bad DISer and am woefully behind. Also, I wear a size small as it happens. Plus I think you're excellent at sashaying and ruggedly handsome at the same time-a very difficult combination to pull off.

I can't believe that after your childhood of water trauma you are a certified diver. That's awesome! I love that Melissa's husband was secretly your dive buddy. That's sweet of him. I can't imagine how much fun you must have had with those kids. I can almost see the smile on your face as you typed.

okay, for the bonus questions. You went on Nemo. You were right there after all. I know you've seen Wishes already so I'm going to say that you went to see Fantasmic. Illuminations would make sense but you seem to enjoy hopping, err, sashaying from park to park in the evening. Besides, you spent the day before at Epcot correct? Le Cell day?

Oh, and the bus took FOREVER. The mods and values always have crazy lines after the shows. I'm going to guess 35 minutes.

And did I forget to mention that you're a man whose wit is only matched by his considerable charm?

Glad you enjoyed reading about it! :goodvibes

Oh, all right.

Also, I wear a size small as it happens.

Well, it's like it was meant to be.

You've got some catching up to do though.

Plus I think you're excellent at sashaying and ruggedly handsome at the same time-a very difficult combination to pull off.

:sad2:

I can't believe that after your childhood of water trauma you are a certified diver. That's awesome!

At the time, I just knew I didn't like swimming.
I kinda knew the reasons, but hadn't really listed them out, ya know?

Now when I put it down in a list... I'm kind of surprised too!

I love that Melissa's husband was secretly your dive buddy. That's sweet of him.

I never got to thank him, either.
By the time I found out, he was gone.

I can't imagine how much fun you must have had with those kids. I can almost see the smile on your face as you typed.

You're the first person that mentioned that.
Yup. I was grinning from ear to ear like an idiot as I typed away.

Got em!

And did I forget to mention that you're a man whose wit is only matched by his considerable charm?

You're realllllly trying for those suck-up points, arent' you?

Despite the fact that it happens to be true.... :rolleyes2

A gassy stingray???

You know.... I did notice the bubbles the first time and attributed them to the mermaid exhaling.
But then I took a second look and laughed.
But then I took a third look.

Is it possible that the ray is actually a costume with a diver inside?

Dunno.
Maybe it is just a happy fart.

Wow... it's really getting deep in here. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

The truth frequently is.
