WORST DISNEY DINING EXPERIENCE

It must have been your Rolex.

Seriously, I used to wait tables. I've never seen this actually happen. And I worked with some really flirty girls who didn't even KNOW they were flirting.
It's hard to believe it happened. I wouldn't believe it either but it did happen. It was really strange, made for a good laugh.

The first time I went to the garden grill at Epcot. We were there for over 3 hours. Our server was horrible and even lost our credit card! I gave it a second chance this year and it was much better. Delicious food this time around and great service. I would go back again!

I'm glad you had a better time the second time around! But, how the heck does a server lose your credit card? And what did you do?

This past trip sealed Kona's fate for us.

The seasonal menu had just changed, so we had made the ADR with certain meals in mind (due to a ton of allergies for both of us). Well, we get in there (amidst all the construction drapes and such) and our server comes out. We tell her about our allergies and she makes it seem that it's a problem we need to speak with the chef (even though it was ON THE ADR... I even had the print out with me) so she gets the chef. Well, the chef came out, was obviously flustered because it must've been a heavy night for allergies. He proceeds to tell us (and sell us) to meals that he could modify that were on the new menu. He never once asked if he could make us the items that WERE on the menu or that we've had successfully in the past. We looked at each other and we were like... he should be able to make us whatever we needed due to the allergies and such (this was CONFIRMED by the Kona dining manager upon our return home). Well, so we get our food, it's ok, tastes decent and everything. Our server was impossible to find and never did get us a second round of drinks (soda/tea, but still). We left the lower end for a tip (this after coming off an absolutely PHENOMENAL dinner at Teppan Edo the night before) and left. No sooner we get out to the monorail station, my stomach starts turning (I had the NY Strip... .Well done). Let's just say I was racing off the monorail at the GF... I proceeded to have what I'm believing was food poisoning the remainder of the night. I definitely now know where every bathroom is from the Rapunzel bathrooms all the way to Main St. (making the circle down by the tea cups and such). I have meds that I take for IBS and dairy at meal time, so there was something else with the meal other than my personal med problems. Also, when immodium doesn't even help, there's a problem with the food.

My DGF who has about 50x more medical problems than I do, yeah, she got sick as well a little bit later than I did (we were back at our room when her wave of sick hit her).

It'll be a long time, if ever, before we go back to Kona. It was sad because we on our prior trip, we had a really good experience.

I know people won't believe it but my worst meal ever was at Jiko. It was my birthday dinner. The portions were soooooo small as to be laughable. Trendy? Edgy? I just don't know. They were literally two-bite portions. We did have a modest bottle of wine but I had a vegetarian entree which was not even appetizer sized. The meal cost us about $420 for 4 of us. I guess that was to be expected and I was naive about signature restaurants. The service was fine. I can't say how good the food was as the portions were too small to tell.

I have not read the entire thread just first page and this page. Eventually every restaurant will be listed, because that is what happens. Restaurants and their staffs are up and down, from a quick service to Victoria and Albert's.

Going out to Dinner at Disney which is busy year round is like going out on Mother's Day at a local restaurant. There are going to be slip ups.

I've had some great meals. Artist Point, Narcoosee's, as well as others. I have also had not so good meals at Artist Point, Narcoosee's as well as others.

You have the right to expect a decent meal that you are paying for, if the service is poor or food is not good let them know.

Quite honestly I probably have had more unpleasant experiences due to other nearby guests. Here are a few examples.

1- Cackling like a hyena as if no one else is in the restaurant.
2- Guests who don't know how to have their kids behave in a restaurant (or in public for that matter), Running around, climbing under the table, standing on a chair, leaving a ton of food, crackers etc. all over the floor and ignoring that they created the mess.
3- Having Dinner reservations at 9 at night with young kids who were at rope drop, who are crying hysterically and the parents don't escort them out of the restaurant and calm them down so as not to disturb the other 100 people nearby.
4- Guests who have an issue and make it a scene because they are paying good money (as if the rest of aren't).
5- Guests who treat the staff like dirt, or upset the young server (they are someones kid or grandkid, think about it if they were your's).

I can go on but that's enough.

Not sure why you think everyone would hear about it. I tried to let one place know that I thought the pimento cheese might be bad (to prevent others from being sick), and they just looked at me--no offer to check it, report it, tell a manager--nothing. And if twenty people all got sick from one place, how many places actually tell the restaurant? And does the restaurant go tell everybody?? Well no. So no, you won't likely know.

And I can also say that twice I was doubled up on the floor, to **** to even stand up to puke my guys out, within an hour. Went from perfectly ok, to that, within one hour. That may not be typical, but it CAN happen.

Words like "usually" and "typically" are great; it just really irks me when folks come along to say "well it couldn't have been the food." Because it could.

Doesn't mean its not the food or due to the restaurant. Did you get sick from the restaurant, yes. Was it technically food poisoning, in many cases no. Some examples include

A single attack (or few attacks) of diarrhea occurring few minutes to few hours after eating may be due to :
  • Gastroenteritis which is an infection of the bowels often caused by viruses.
  • Combination of certain foods - some foods do not mix well in the stomach and small intestine and can irritate the stomach.
  • Magnesium which may be in some mineral waters, sport drinks, antacids, supplements
Even a glass with soap residue can give you these symptoms. Can it be food poisoning in 20 minutes for sure, but there can be a lot of reasons. When thinking of food poisoning we typically think of a widespread issue.

There are many things that cause us to get sick after a meal. From food additives (that your body may not be accustomed to), histamine toxicity, Gluten and Lactose intolerance, or just eating rich foods or greasy/fried foods that your body is unaccustomed to. Doesn't mean it wasn't food poisoning or that the dish was prepared properly.

With 30,000 guest rooms and who knows how many 100,000's of meal served daily from a hot dog at Casey's to an Eclair in France, there are going to be issues. Before eating the pretzel on the run, or any other food, after waiting in line for Soaring or Mine train, did you wash your hands after running your hands along the poles on the line or the roller coaster bar. I would venture to say that 80% if not more of the guest don't.

Via Napoli - We waited probably 30 minutes past our ADR time. We felt very crowded and close to folks sitting at the next table. I ended up spending more than I should at a pizza place. We were on the dining plan but once I added an alcoholic beverage, appetizer, and tip, the bill felt high. Service was OK....but what really made it a horrible experience was me shutting my son's finger in the door of the family bathroom. Oh man he screamed and screamed and bled and that pretty much ruined the rest of the dinner. Of course not the restaurant's fault, but still a bad memory.

Another vote for Whispering Canyon. My wife was telling me on the way there how much fun it was going to be. She told me some story about asking for "Ketchup" and how they make a big deal if you do and its so funny.
So our waitress was rude from the get go. When the food arrived I asked her for Ketchup and she said, with attitude, do you really need it? After that we got our deserts to go and left. AWFUL experience. I never got to experience this ketchup thing.

I know now there is a thing they place on the table that lets the servers know if you would like to participate in the antics or not. Regardless, I'm sorry that the service was so poor.

We felt that way at Le Chefs and so we won't be back for awhile.

Our worst meal was Chef Mickey's. Rushed character interaction, terrible food, messy buffet. We left hungry and ended up eating at our resort quick service once we were done.

We have had service issues a couple of times once at 1900 Park Fare and once at Rainforest Cafe. We had waitresses that basically dropped our drinks off and was never seen again until it was time for the bill at 1900 and at Rainforest Cafe a server was rude about us having the Disney Dining Plan. We would still return to both 1900 Park Fare and Rainforest Cafe since any restaurant can have a bad apple or two. We simply adjusted the tip accordingly to the service we received.

Yes I agree with Chef Mickey's being bad. The food was worse than a Golden Corral buffet. Most of the stuff was cold, gross looking and not fresh... and we were the first seating of the morning.

Since we didn't have any kids, our table was passed up a couple times by the characters. We just wanted a couple photos and instead were completely ignored. I had to asked the waitress to see if they would come back.

Bongos. Even though I like the place a lot. It was once so bad it was funny. I was there with a date and another couple. The waitress came over did some small talk. Turned her back to my guest the whole time. Then told me what time she was getting out of work and was I interested in coming back. It was very loud and hard to hear as the band was playing but I could tell that when taking the order of my guest that the waitress told her several times that they were out of that dish. Finally when the food came they brought out for 3 and did not bring the dish out for my date. She noticed that I had what the waitress told her they were out of. When asked, the waitress told her that they had it for him, but none for her. (this is all true) Finally, her dish arrived and it was a dish of off the children's menu lol. It went down hill from there. It was so strange and odd the whole thing that it was funny. We laughed the whole way through.

A date? Not Mrs. Art1? :confused3

Crystal Palace breakfast. Waited 20 minutes or so past our reservation time for bad food and little character interaction.

We've had the same sort of experiences. For our first visit to Le Celier, we were so excited because we'd heard such great things about the restaurant. The food and the service were just what we would have expected - excellent. However, for the entire meal, a very large party near us let the baby at the table cry loudly for nearly an hour nonstop. I understand babies cry. I also understand how to pick up said baby after a few minutes and walk around outside until they calm down. This group of approximately 9 adults did absolutely nothing to soothe the child (or us, for that matter). The only thing the waitstaff could have done was to move us (to where because the whole restaurant was affected), or offer free babysitting services. It was not the way I wanted to spend the our one signature dining experience that week.

Other than that, I won't go back to 50s Prime Time Cafe because of very rude service many years ago.
