I guess FB has spoiled me. I sure do wish that DIS had a "like" button on each individual post. I rarely have any thoughts useful enough to justify an actual reply but I do like to let you all know that I am reading and appreciating... :thumbsup2

:lmao: Oh my gosh! I find myself thinking the same thing.

Did my online checkin last evening after making my FP. Requested Aruba and ground floor. Connecting rooms was already checked off. I suppose my travel agent had something to do with that. Woohoo!

You can add me to the roll call! January 9-15. Anyone else participating in Marathon Weekend? I am having a love/hate relationship with the countdown getting closer and closer due to the amount of training and running I have until then but also I'm very excited for the trip to start!

Good morning all! Sorry I went M.I.A. for a while there. We spent the Thanksgiving holidays out of State with our daughter and her husband. I believe that I've added everybody to the roll call. If I missed someone, please let me know and I'll add you.

I appreciate the honest reviews that have been posted...the good, the bad and the ugly. I was happy to hear that one of you received a response to your email from Disney. At least we know that they are listening to the complaints and trying to rectify them.

I also want to thank everybody for keeping it calm and not going all crazy over any of the reviews. I've seen a lot of people go nutso whenever somebody posts a bad review on a resort thread and it makes me a bit angry whenever a poster jumps to the defense of a Disney resort simply because it's their favorite. The simple truth is that no resort (value, moderate, deluxe or villa) is going to be perfect. Thankfully, for my family, we have never run into any major issues while staying at the CBR. However, if we ever so, I'll definitely let them know.

Hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving with your family! Can you add me to the roll call - we will be there 10/ 1 - 10/11. Thanks!

We've been pretty busy since we got home so I haven't had a chance to post, but I did want to come on here and say we had an excellent time at CBR from 11/15-23!!

We booked a preferred room when free dining first came out, but as the trip came closer and the preferred rooms were not refurbished, I put my online requests in for Jamaica or Aruba. I also had our room requests added to our reservation (Jamaica or Aruba and first floor), called CBR and faxed our requests four days before check-in. When we got there they had us in Martinique, but I explained I really wanted a refurbed room, so they changed us to Jamaica 46 with no problem. This was also at 11am, and the room was ready for us immediately! We did have a second floor room, which was tough with the stroller, but we dealt with it for the nicer room. The location was perfect, super close to the bus stop and only a few minute walk to OPR.

The room was lovely. I especially loved the murphy bed and the doors on the sink area. We kept the baby's pack n play in there so it was like he had his own "room". We also found there to be plenty of space for our things, though we did bring one of those hanging shelf closet organizers, so that certainly helped. Housekeeping was also great. We did wind up with multiple cases of pink eye (very thankful for the medical concierge!) and stomach viruses, but I can't blame that on the room. Who knows where my kids picked those germs up, but if I had to guess I'd say the bus! :crazy2:

Bus service was excellent. It was usually about a 5 minute wait for us, except one time going to MK it was about 10 minutes. We loved being the first ones on and off the bus at times at the Jamaica stop. There were times when the bus was full, but someone would always give up a seat for me and the baby. :goodvibes

My boys did the CBR Pirate Cruise and it was one of the highlights of their trip! They are still talking about how much fun it was and the friends they met. I would definitely recommend that to anyone that has kids 4-12! We also did the Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage out of the Contemporary Resort and it was awesome! We ALL loved it and will be doing it again next time without question!

We had some bottles of wine delivered and forgot a corkscrew. At the store in OPR they have some to lend out in case anyone else has that problem! If you're on the fence about MVMCP like I was, buy the tickets! It was so fun and completely worth the extra $$ (even my unwilling DH agreed to that once we got there!). We were at a sold out party but walked on so many rides and loved the Christmas music, the parade and the fun atmosphere!

We will probably be renting DVC points the next time we do Disney, but if we not we would return to CBR in a heartbeat! It was a beautiful, laid back resort, I just wish we'd had more "down" time and less "cold" days!

Can you guys walk me through this?

The only other stay at CB, we had our own car.

We will be landing at 9:45PM and plan on using MDE. When we get on bus and check in, will we be walking to our "area"? I know this resort is huge so I am a little concerned with this. I was thinking of not checking bags because I am afraid we won't get them until the next day and I want to head out bright and early. So, we will be dragging luggage.

Also, our flight leaves out at 7:20AM:rolleyes1 so how do we get from our "land" to the Custom house that early (thinking our bus will be at 4-4:30am!!)

what bldg. should I request to make all these connections the quickest?

thanks

Yes! It is still there! We left on Sunday, November 23rd. We had rented a surrey bike during our stay. I noticed the pool table there when we arrived to rent the bike and thought we should check it out when we returned the bike. I forgot all about it until I saw your post tonight. :rotfl2:

Yeah!! You just made my day! :woohoo: I was so hoping it was still there and then the earlier poster said they did not see it. It is easy to miss it if you are not looking for it though. Now I can go and kick DH and DS's fannies in a couple of games. :thumbsup2

Thanks bunches!!

I am sorry but, we have never gotten in that late, therefore I don't know how long it takes to get your bags. I do however know that what I would do if I were worried about not getting my things in time. I would just pack a carry-on with the things I need for the morning. I would think that you could call and find out approximately when your bags would be arriving. The direct number to the Magical Express is: 1-866-599-0951. There is an internal bus that will take you to and from check-in so you won't have to walk a hundred miles. There are also Bell Services located at check-in if you want to go that route. Read back a few posts and there is a post or two talking about having Bell Services pick you and your bags up to take you to check-out. If none of these tickle your fancy and you decide to just pick up your luggage yourself, then just request the village of Barbados. It is a 1 1/2 minute walk right across the street from check-in. Easy as pie! We stayed in Barbados last year and loved it. Please don't let the size of CBR stress you...it will all be fine! Have a great time!! :thumbsup2

I just noticed you are a Saints fan too! WooHoo!

There's a thread on the resort board called POR/POFQ Fax Thread run by user Venomhatch. In the first few posts, he lists a template which I copied when I faxed my request to CBR. He also has the CBR fax number listed. I faxed my request on Monday for a Friday arrival, and all my requests were met.

THANK YOU!:cheer2:

Yes who dat! Thanks for making me feel better about everything. We are one the fence about driving vs flying right now. I am going to refer back to this once we make the decision.

Don't worry about any of this stuff. They are well set up at CBR to get you to your room at any hour.

However at this hour I would personally not use the yellow luggage tags and get my own checked luggage before going to the DME counter.

When you get off the bus at CBR you'll find Bell Services just outside the doors of the Custom House (Lobby) on the left side. That is where you ask for a ride to your room after you check in and they will take you there in a van- no need to walk, though we often do if the weather's good and it's daytime.

When it's time to leave just call Bell Services the day before with your DME time and they will pick you up with a van and help you with all your luggage so you can be on time for your ride back to the airport.

Have a great trip! :)

I forgot to mention that I find the airline Checkin department guys are a little rude. We had checked our luggage in at the resort at 6:30 AM on day of departure and he made a rude remark when we went over our 50 pounds. What upsetted me was another jerk behind the counter only printed my boarding pass and not the rest of my family's! We didn't realize he did that till we boarded the MDE and were on our way. Such a moron! Not like there was a line! We were the only ones checking in and the 3 of us were standing in front of him. I tried emailing to complain about this and was told they're not Disney employees. So beware future Caribbean resort members. Check to make sure all your boarding passes are printed before you leave the area! Thank goodness there was no line at the airport and it was an easy process checking in at the kiosk!

They're TSA employees, so I'm not surprised.

So, bumping the thread back to the first page:

Do any longtime CBR guests know if there are any Hidden Mickeys we should be trying to find on resort property?

just a silly question. is there any reason why Disney has not updated the photos for the refurbished rooms on their site? i think we are booking a stay there in April debating now between CB and POR :)

Disney always seems slow to update the pictures. Last time I looked at the VWL pictures they were of the old rooms too which were redone last summer. If you look at the other resorts pictures you will see lots of them with the old full bedspreads. The Dis is the best place to see up-to-date pictures! Thanks all of you who post those pics for us!
