DDC XXXII: A Dole Whip in Paradise

Afternoon Dads. Really nice day today, taking it easy before the long drive home.

Found this this morning, think it'll come in really handy for future trips

http://beersandears.net

I plan on using it and the app extensively.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

I've used that app before... but more for planning/research before I go. Once I am there, I get what's available wherever I am... :lmao:

Well just realised I've hit a new Disney low/high depending how you look at it. DD brought home an invitation to a friends Maleficant movie birthday party, DD was excited so I RSVP and her friends mom said I could stay and see the movie or come back after, normally I would relish the slight parenting break but i jump at the opportunity to see the movie.

We don't really park hop either. It is so much work to get 3 kids into a park… who wants to leave then do it again? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

We went back for naps when they were young - all the way back to the All Stars. :furious:

Thanks guys. Hard to believe it has been that long at times and other times :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Yeah, there are days of not so much wedded bliss. Those are called weekdays. :lmao:

I want to see the movie as well. I'm not a big Angelina Jolie fan, but I was ready to join her dark side after seeing the movie preview.

Oddly enough DD has never needed a nap, I wanted one more then she did.

Other then my teenage years back when Hackers came out, I wasn't much of a Jolie fan either, I think overall looks like a cool live action version of a Classic Disney Tale. And with movie tickets now a days, and cake and Ice Cream!

The Theatre recently added beer to their menu, but I'm guessing that prob won't be a good idea to order beer at a kids birthday movie party lol.

I think I saw the same video. The guy had a spear gun and used it to tap and warn off Katherine. The thing about sharks is bites are rare and it is usually by mistake. "Hey, you are not a seal, yuck." The sharks you see most down here are nurse sharks. Pretty docile and I have come pretty close to them. Not saying I would not be nervous with more aggressive sharks, bulls, hammerheads..., but I feel if I gave them space, they would leave me alone. To see a Great White in the wild would be cool. I admit though that I would need to change my wet suit after the encounter.

I've posted this before but I really like this picture.

I'd like to think if I swam upon a shark, that I would know what to do and remain calm. It would be more likely that my video would end up on AFV or the web for acting crazy.

Don't worry. The Pacers clearly can't play 2 solid games back to back in the playoffs this year. :headache:

I have to say though... the effort and the fight appeared to be back in them yesterday. I haven't seen that at all in the playoffs. I guess the fact that they're playing a team that they clearly don't like helps in that regard.
::

The Pacers did play really well yesterday.

It's like a DISDad slogan.

Do we have slogans? Sounds good to me. I like the Off Topic one as well.

Well... except for the Special Leap Year closeout..... :surfweb:

That was fun.

I agree with your logic, but I've always traveled with at least 1 or 2 others in our group who want to head back to the resort for a mid day break. If we're leaving anyway, I kind of enjoy getting to do the best of a couple of parks in a day. And when you reach that point later in the week that you've covered all you want in one park, you can head over to see fireworks in another or hang out in the World Showcase for a few hours or whatever you want. It really depends how you want to tour the parks, but there are definite benefits both ways.
.

We've never toured with others, only the four of us.

I'm thinking children's birthday parties are the perfect time to drink. :lmao:

Buy beer in mass quantities now, hops prices have taken a huge jump, it will not be long before the price of beer is raised, could go up anywhere from $1-$4 a six pack, depending on the beer (micobrew will be the hardest hit:scared1:)

a few weeks ago bacon took a hit, it is now up around $2 across the board:scared1:, cheapest bacon here now is $4.99 on sale and a lot of companies are moving to a 12oz pack:rolleyes1

That's why I denied any of DD's attempts to have a Chuck E Cheese birthday, they stopped serving beer jk

I fully agree with you Norm, I've been to kids parties with margaritas and beer for the parents but prob in the case it would be frowned upon, but I'll hold on to hope though.

The last couple of parties we have had I served beer & premixed bottle drinks, our son goes to a Catholic school and the response has been positive:thumbsup2, the parents have been appreciative since they are also at the parties for a few hours, I didn't know if it would backfire or not (was expecting some up tight attitudes) but it seems like the parents have great time and we now have a good sized click where the kids and parents have play dates all the time:thumbsup2, you just can't go overboard:rolleyes1

Nothing says you mean business more then using a shopping cart at the liquor store:worship:

I'm working with hops growers here and there is interest in more acres being planted. Just finished stringing my trellis lines today. We will never compete with the West though. Really two different markets, the microbreweries and the big brewers (Coors, etc.)

Morning guys! Brian, Barry or Sean, have any of you guys been to the Legoland Discovery Center in Shaumburg? Was it worth the trip?

Good morning fellow dads, I woke up around 2 this morning only to discover DD did not close the lid on her hamsters cage all the way so I searched for an hr and set up traps, so hopefully we can find her this afternoon.

Good luck, I hope you can find her.

Morning guys, great day to be alive and kicking.

Let me know when you want to swim with sharks. I'll record it and we will split the $10,000.

That's pretty much my strategy too. :thumbsup2

Well, considering the fact that DW is one of those nappers... :rolleyes1

Thanks for being a downer. :faint:

Now that is definitely tag fairy worthy. Maybe not on the Disboards, but somewhere. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

The way microwbreweries are popping up everywhere, there should still be a good market for Kentucky hops. And any more hops produced should help with this beer price apocalypse that is apparently on the horizon. :rotfl2:

 Good luck!

But will you have to split it with his widow or will you just keep it all? :confused3 :lmao:

We've been there once. It was pretty cool. They had a couple of the exhibits closed down for a Lego building competition when we were there, so I don't really feel I got my moneys worth, but with everything up and running I would feel better about it. The kids really liked it.
You planning on heading up this way soon?

I was thinking in the fall.
