Disney Wonder Hawaii Sept. 2015

Also, last time....were the port days on each island "long port days" or short ones like the ones we have on the Western in Costa Maya & Grand Cayman? Just trying to figure out if you really get a full day's worth of traveling around the island. thanks
For the first Hawaii cruise our times were: Hilo 9-5:30, Maui and Honolulu 7:30-10:30, and Kawaii, 9-5:30 or something close to that. I don't remember the Ensenada times. Sent from my iPhone 5 using DISBoards

You will get a taste of each island so to speak. You can't travel the whole island. You'd just pick certain things to do like any regular port. To really get a feel of a whole island anywhere you'd have to fly and stay there for a few days.

Does anyone know if they allow a 1/2 cruise? We'd love to sail from LA to Honolulu, and then stay at Aulani for a week and fly fly home.

Royal Caribbean does that.

I bet you'd have to pay full fare for a 1/2 trip though. Sounds like an expensive way to go!

No. That would be in violation of the PVSA.

A foreign-flagged ship (DCL is registered in the Bahamas) cannot transport passengers from one US port to a different US port without a stop in a "DISTANT" foreign port. A distant foreign port is any port that is not in North America, Central America, the Bermuda Islands, or the West Indies (including the Bahama Islands, but not including the Leeward Islands of the Netherlands Antilles, i.e., Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao)." 19 CFR § 4.80a(a)(2). The closest distant foreign port along the LA-Hawaii route would be Fanning Island, an island about 3 days southwest from Hawaii, with absolutely nothing there.

Any violation of this results in a $300 per person fine to the cruiseline (usually passed onto the passenger) and possibly being banned from the ports in question.

Quoted from the Passenger Vessel Service Act:
(19 CFR § 4.80a(b)(1)). For example, a non-coastwise-qualified vessel that embarks a passenger in Los Angeles and transports him/her to one or more of the Hawaiian Islands where he/she goes ashore temporarily and returns to Los Angeles where he/she disembarks, violates the PVSA.

Non-coastwise vessel means foreign flagged.

Ours was
Oct 14 LA
Oct 15 At Sea
Oct 16 At Sea
Oct 17 At Sea
Oct 18 At Sea
Oct 19 Kahului, Maui
Oct 20 Nawiliwili, Kauai
Oct 21 Honolulu, Oahu
Oct 22 Hilo, Hawaii
Oct 23 At Sea
Oct 24 At Sea
Oct 25 At Sea
Oct 26 At Sea
Oct 27 Ensenada, Mexico
Oct 28 LA

This was the itinerary for the first Hawaii cruise in April 2012 - our cruise was 15 nights and our order of ports was different than the October Hawaii cruise. I listed the port times as per the Navigator:

April 29 - LA
April 30 - at sea
May 1 - at sea
May 2 - at sea
May 3 - at sea
May 4 - Hilo, Hawaii (10 am - 7:30 pm)
May 5 - Kahului, Maui (7:30 am - 11:00 pm)
May 6 - Honolulu, Oahu (7:30 am - 10:30 pm)
May 7 - Nawiliwili, Kauai (7:30 am - 5:30 pm)
May 8 - at sea
May 9 - at sea
May 10 - at sea
May 11 - at sea
May 12 - at sea
May 13 - Ensenada, Mexico (8 am - 4:30 pm)
May 14 - LA

Our cruise was amazing and we loved the sea days, however we did have some cooler weather and rougher seas on the way back to Ensenada. It was also very strange when you have so many sea days in a row to be up on deck and all you see for miles is water...no land...no other ships...just water...

Would I cruise DCL to Hawaii again....in a heartbeat!!!!!

If it does actually happen, I have a feeling it will be used as the Vancouver-S. California repositioning, followed immediately by a Panama Canal cruise to bring it east.

Unless.... pie in the sky thoughts....
One way Vancouver-Honolulu and then one way Honolulu - Sydney for an Aus/NZ repositioning for the winter season. ;)

I'm impressed DCL was able to get the harbor master to remove all evidence and get the "new" schedule uploaded so quickly. Pretty fast for a gov't office.

Proof positive DCL either follows Disboards and/or disneycruiselineblog.

I still have hope. I say this cause when I look at it on my iPhone and have all my safari tabs open it says 2015 Honolulu without Disney. That tells me maybe someone at DCL asked them to hide it. Just a maybe. I could be wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened. Probably had to wait until someone came into the office first thing Monday morning (Hawaii time difference) and that's why it stayed up as long as it did.

But of course, itineraries are always subject to change.
