Too many TRICKS with a few TREATS! Our near non-vacation in October!

Introductions:

If you have decided to join me: :welcome:

I have never written a trip report before but here goes nothing. This was one of our more eventful trips for sure.

Im Trisha and my husband is Brian. My daughter is 8.5 and my son is 4.5. We are from a small town north of Charlotte, NC.

My husband and I took our honeymoon at Disney in April 2000. Ahhh to tour the parks childless again&&lol. We went to 3 parks (when Hollywood Studios was called MGM!) and Universal Studios. We stayed off-site at some random hotel---I dont even remember.

Here is a picture of us on our honeymoon! You have to look closely! :rotfl2:
I didn't have this picture online. But this is one where we were celebrating our Honeymoon and the pictures was printed on chocolate in edible ink and our DD ate it! :)

Then WAY TOO MANY years later, in January 2009, we took my then 4.5 DD to Disney when I was 5 months pregnant with DS. We went to Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We stayed at All Star Movies in the Dalmatian section.

In April 2010 we went back and celebrated our 10 yr anniversary by staying in the Wilderness Lodge and LOVED it. That year we did MK, AK and Universal Studios----my DD loves harry Potter (in fact, as a side note, she named our black shaggy dog Sirius.) :offtopic:

In November 2011 we went back and stayed at Jambo House at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. That was incredible and my kids loved all the animals. We also really loved Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. This one was s surprise for my son and daughter. She thought we were visiting family in NH. Tee Hee. So fun to see DD's face when she realized---DS was just excited but didn't realize it was a surprise.

November 2012 found us setting sail on our first Disney cruise aboard the Dream. AWESOME! We ended up buying DVC on this trip.

That brings us to October 2013 where we attended MNSSHP and stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge in the Kadani Village. DD is 8.5 and DS is 4.5.

Everyone needs a little excitement in their vacation right? Well this one kept me guessing. One thing after another. I guess there will be vacations that dont work out liked you planned.

And this was ours!

Buckle up, it is going to be a bumpy ride because a trip to the hospital is next.:crazy2:

Looking forward to it Trisha! We stayed at Kadani Dec. of last year which was absolutely awesome and were at Saratoga this September. I hope your trip went as well as ours (well, after the apparent hospital visit, that is!...)

How do you like DVC so far? Are you using it exactly as you expected, or are there any unexpected aspects (either good or bad) that you have encountered?

Will be following,

Thanks for joining---and there were quite a few surprises this trip but ANY day is better in Disney right!??! :-)

Thanks for joining! This was our first DVC trip and so far we like it. It was nice to have a little extra attention. We are still getting use to it and learning all the ins and outs.

Following along! :)

Thank you for reading along. If you have a TR, let me know and so I can see how other people juggle littles!

Following along! I love your matching shirts, btw. Super cute!

Thank you---we got the matching shirts on etsy. It was fun.

Checking in, can't wait to read what's next!

Thank you for subbing!

Day ONE and TWO: Saturday and Sunday: A long drive and Not such a celebration at Celebration Hospital

As you can tell, we LOVE Disney. My daughter can tell you a lot about Disney and Magic Kingdom and she loves helping us plan our trips. We always throw in a few surprises for them though!

I had a lot of fun planning this trip since it was our first DVC (but also just because I love to plan) and was so excited when I was 180 days out and could make my reservations. Sadly, we ended up canceling quite a few of them and didn't get to go to them. More on that later.

I just may be a compulsive planner! Every time we go I make journals, autograph books, invitations, welcome letters and certificates for the kids. I put all kinds of games, tic-tac-toes, word searches etc...n a binder with a pencil pouch of pencils, markers etc… and then the binder serves as a hard surface for them to write on. I also pack some extra treats, gifts and surprises in there “car” bags. Then the invitations are magically delivered to our room!

And as you can see from our cruise pictures, that year I even went so far as to order matching shirts.

So we left North Carolina around 8:30 am on Saturday October 19th. LOOOOOONG 11 hour drive.............ahhhhhh

And then it got even longer when Hubby started feeling some pain in his side.

Here are the kiddos hanging out and losing their minds at a rest stop.
My little monsters.

Once we got to Orlando, we checked in at a Days Inn on Polynesian Blvd. and headed to the Emergency Room at Celebration Hospital.

I dropped DH off to get checked in while we ran to Chik-fil-a for dinner. I brought the food back to the hospital to eat so Dh could have his hot. Eating at the ER is just not fun. I could feel the germs crawling on me!!!!

This hospital has VALET parking. Are all the hospitals in FL like that? I circled quite a few times to figure out that I HAD to use valet. I was mortified for the valet guy to see my van! Good grief was it a sight form this long drive.

We ate and then the kids played in the play area----which was a BLESSING! We all would have lost our minds completely if they would have had to just sit there.

Hours, and hours and a cat scan later and with two exhausted and whiny children, it was determined that DH had a kidney stone. Luckily, he wasn't in any pain at the moment.

Finally around 11 pm we went back to the hotel and collapsed.

They had given my husband some heavy duty pain killers and some medicine for nausea. Apparently passing a kidney stone is supposed to be VERY painful. We hoped and prayed he wouldn't start hurting in the middle of our vacation or on a ride. Screaming on a roller coaster in pain is not the same as screaming in enjoyment!!!!

The next morning, Sunday October 20th, we had reservations for Chef Mickey’s at 8:45. Luckily, DH was feeling pretty good.

Is there anything more beautiful!??!

(BY THE WAY: meet B-Dawg! This is my sons favorite stuffed animal and he never leaves home with out it. However, I did convince him not to take him into the parks. Can you imagine if we had lost him????)

My kids are early risers and the time worked for us! My kids absolutely LOVED Chef Mickey’s. In fact every time we passed the Contemporary for the next week, my son would point and squeal, “Chef Mickey’s.” We got to see Donald, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Mickey and take pictures and sign autographs. It is a buffet for breakfast and had the usual fare: pastries, donuts, Mickey head waffles, pancakes (fresh ones made on the griddle at the bar), fruits, cereals, eggs, sausage, bacon and a few casseroles. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Mickey waffles are always good---even if it is only because they are my favorite shape.

DS kissed Minnie's nose---oh so stinkin' cute. But I was behind him and didn't get a good picture. Poo!

We rode the monorail all the way around just for the fun of it after breakfast.

Nosed around the shops some:

Then headed over to Kadani to see if we could check in early.

We got there around noon and our room was not ready (which was fine b/c it wasn't supposed to be until 4). We checked our luggage and headed to Target to get groceries and my husband’s prescriptions filled.

We were staying in a one bedroom room with a kitchen. This was a first for us. So, I bought too much even though I had planned our meals and what days we would eat in the room. Oh, well you live and learn. I figured we saved hundreds of dollars not eating in the restaurant, parks or quick serves.

We got a text around 1:30-2 that our room was ready as we were checking out at Target. Perfect timing.

The Cast Members are always so accommodating and helpful and that was true of our resort’s CM’s. They helped us get our groceries, kids and left-over miscellaneous things to our room and then our vacation started!

We were in 7806 which is on the 4th floor and very near the lobby.
(I am working on a review of Kadani and our room and will update here when it is posted.)

Online, I had requested a room close to the lobby bc I hate how long the halls at the Animal Kingdom Lodge are----although of course I understand why. But after a long day at the parks, it is almost unbearable to walk that far. Of course, it worked out that it was close to the lobby since hubby could be in pain at any time.

A cute little welcome letter from the Fab 5 magically appeared on the bed when the kids weren't looking---they were so happy that my kids were there! (See? I plan everything!)

We must have done something for lunch but I can't remember what it was. Something in the room though.

After getting the luggage and groceries all situated, ooohhhing and ahhhing over all the animals in the Savannah we could see from our balcony......

The kids and I donned our bathing suits and headed to the pool.

My husband had some work to do and he wasn't feeling so hot so he stayed in the room. But so far no major pain, just discomfort.

We ate dinner in the room (sandwiches? Who knows what you eat when it isn’t Disney food??) and then all of us headed down at 6 pm for the Campfire by the pool where we roasted marshmallows.

The hotel has cultural things going on all the time: discussions, games, events, tours etc... You can see in the background a man is sitting on the ground gathering some kids to play this Jinga (sp?) type game but all about eco-systems. And of course if they don't support each other, they fall. It had quiz like questions and my DD rocked it! :-) Yes, I am a little prejudice! :rotfl2:

FORESHADOWING…..dun dun dun

DD had started feeling bad around dinner time and didn’t eat much. She said her stomach hurt. You can see in this picture roasting marshmallows that her little face is kind of downcast. I assumed it was from a little more junk food than normal as we traveled and from being tired.

Off to bed we went a few hours later. We had exciting plans tomorrow. A fairy Godmother and a princess in a castle was in store for our girl and a brave knight transformation for my boy.

Canceling reservations I had made 180 days in advance was not on my agenda……..yet, it was. SIGH

Day THREE: Monday: There are no miracles on Mondays.

Here were our plans for the day:
1. Arrive for Rope Drop at 8:45
2. Head straight to Enchanted Tales With Belle
3. Check out anything else in Fantasyland
4. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at 11:50 for both (son was getting the knight package)
5. Cinderella’s Royal Table at 1:20—with my DD looking beautiful in the pictures and my DS looking dashing.
6. Finish the day however we wanted –watching my children (especially my daughter) enjoy all the attention from being dressed up

That’s not quite how it went……

Like I said before, my kids are early risers. Vacations, no school, summer... it does not matter….yeah, they are usually up by 6:30 am. So getting up and out for rope drop is no big deal for our family.

DS is just now getting old enough to go downstairs by himself and let me sleep. Although he doesn't usually. And he still wakes me in the middle of the night if he has to use the restroom. I keep telling him he does not need my help but the little booger still comes to get me. I “help” him (aka as stand there and yawn) then I tuck him back in bed and go back to bed myself. :)

Anyhoo…….Bright and early on Monday morning we woke up and started to get dressed. We wanted to be to Magic Kingdom for rope drop at 8:45.

DD and DS ate pop-tarts (something I NEVER buy) but I thought we were on vacation, so why not? I tossed in some fruit and milk and felt like it wasn't too horrible a breakfast. They each were given ONE pastry (not one package) and neither finished it---which was odd for daughter but not my son. I chalked it up to excitement that they didn't eat much. DD said she didn't like it much. What? She’s the one who asked for these.

I had been planning this day for a long time. As a surprise I made reservations at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for both children. DS was getting the Knight Package. My appointment was at 11:50 and then we had reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table at 1:20. I was so excited to tell my daughter because she had been asking for months to go but I kept putting her off to trick her. Since she is 8.5 I feel this might be her last year being into the princesses enough to get all dolled up. So, I wanted to make it a big deal.

I purchased a custom cotton sun dress on Etsy for the occasion in a cute Ariel print.

Here she is getting ready---still smiling. So far.

She doesn’t like the dress-up dresses like they sell at Disney or the Disney Store b/c they itch her like crazy. She won’t keep them on. I was excited for her to wear it and get her hair piled on top of her head.

I specifically made plans for 2 days at Magic Kingdom so one day she could walk around all dressed up like a princess and then the second day she could wear her Halloween costume when we went to MNSSHP. Like I said, I had a plan.

Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans…….

Here they are waiting for the bus. DD hair is just up in a messy pontytail waiting for BBB to do their magic.

We arrived.

After rope drop and watching the opening show we raced through the park for Enchanted Tales with Belle.

But first we followed these two for awhile as they left the rope drop ceremony. I don't know where they went. They were there. Then they weren't. They must have ducked into some magical doorway.

DD begged us to stop running which is unusual b/c that girl loves to run and is even in a running club at school.

When we got there, there was barely any wait and we breezed right in.

So far, my plan was going smoothly. Amazingly, all 4 of us were chosen for parts. DS was Maurice in the dungeon, DD was a fork and spoon, DH was a knight/guard and I was Wardrobe. I was beaming. So fun!

Since I am the photographer of the group, and I use that term loosely, there aren't many pictures on my camera---they were taken on my phone. So they stink. It was hard having a “part” and taking pictures at the same time. The photopass pictures aren't any better. Either this guy stunk at taking pictures or the lighting in there is really bad. Or both.

Here's DS as Maurice

AND

DD as Silverware

DH as a knight

Afterwards, we went to ride Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid, but it was closed for some reason. Here’s my girl sitting on the rocks outside around 9:20 am. By then she was feeling really bad and kept asking to ride in my son’s stroller.

Then she asked to ride the Barnstormer. I thought that was a sign she was feeling better but nope, it was a sign of her being 8 and not always making the best choices! She felt worse afterwards.

It was already VERY muggy and hot at 9:30-45. So we decided to see if a slow breezy ride on the train might make her feel better. So we quickly skedaddled through the circus to the train.

But no.

We got off in Frontierland and headed into Adventure Land.

DS wanted to ride Pirates of the Caribbean so we made our way there. When we got off the ride into the shop, I sat down with DD on the edge of a low shelf and she laid her head down in my lap and nearly fell asleep sitting there while DS and DH looked around. Her stomach was hurting and she was moaning in misery.

Around 10:00 (yes, we had been in the park for only an hour!!!), we headed to the first aide center. The ladies there blamed dehydration and acted like I was stupid. “Dehydration can cause a stomach ache and a headache,” they said. DUH! Can dehydration cause symptoms a day BEFORE you get dehydrated??? She HAD been drinking water and I told them that she started feeling bad the day before but they insisted. By then she felt like she had a fever but I wasn't sure if it was just her skin being hot from the sun.

Until then she hadn't complained of a headache but when they took us into the back to let her lie down, she said her head was hurting as well. (power of suggestion??)

She was miserable little girl.

DH stayed with her because he didn't need to get dehydrated either since he was dealing with kidney stones. DS and I headed out to ride some rides. We had decided to see if she could just rest and keep going. We hated the thought of leaving.

First I went to BBB and inquired about her appointment. By now it was 11 and their appointments were at 11:50. They canceled them for me with no fee since she was sick and told me that if she got to feeling better we could come back and they would try to fit her in. Yeah right!

After talking with them, I spoke with the CRT people and they said the same thing. I wasn’t ready to cancel though. I was still holding out hope she would feel better by 1:20.

DS and I watched the Sword and the Stone show and then rode the carousel.

Then DS and I waited in line twice to ride It’s a Small World (he had to go to the bathroom the first go around so we had to ditch the line and then get back in it).

SIDE NOTE: Yes, the Rapunzel bathrooms ARE all that and a bag of chips. They were adorable.

He enjoyed Small World but I was feeling guilty about leaving out my daughter but DH said she was asleep. She slept for about 1 1/2 hours in the first aide area.

We got a Mickey Head Ice Cream and DH called and said DD was throwing up. It looked like we would have to leave. Then he called back and said, after throwing up she felt much better. I was excited that she might be able to go to CRT!

They joined us behind the castle around 1 pm and she did seem to feel so much better. She kept saying, “I’m fine!” I had done nothing to her hair that morning because she was supposed to go to BBB. Since that had been canceled and since she had slept on her hair, she looked a fright! So we stopped into a shop and bought a princess brush (for $12:99!).

Posing in the shop with Minnie and MESSY hair.

I brushed her hair and clipped in a flower barrette and this is how she looked. Is that a smile??? Maybe she is feeling better.

We checked in for our turn for CRT reservation at 1:15. DD started feeling bad again while we waited and I kept asking her if she wanted to leave and assured her I wouldn’t be upset. She said she wanted to stay. It was a disaster.

Here is our picture with Cinderella; barely smiling.

DS loved the knight.

The inside of the waiting area is gorgeous. Looks very castle-like. If you notice on a ledge way in the back, the little mice are keeping watch.

She didn’t eat a bite of food, laid her head down on the table and weakly smiled at the princesses. DH couldn’t find anything he wanted for his picky palate and DS was stir crazy bc he wanted to go ride rides and play.

My little dream of a dolled up princess eating in a castle looking beautiful with her brother dressed as a knight was SHOT! I just felt like this was the last year she would be “into” the princesses and be willing to dress up and no………..whoosh……..dream was gone.

The inside of the castle dinning room was beautiful. I didn't get many pictures because I was dealing with my little sick one.

Look how non-excited she is to meet Snow White! Poor thing.

Ariel was the one she was most excited about yet, she could barely smile. My girl soldiered on though and smile somewhat for every picture.

I would give you a food report but I seriously barely remember what I ate. I remember the appetizer plate was really good---the hummus, salad was good IMO... But I was also VERY hungry as it was now around 1:45. My taste buds might have been a little skewed.

DH doesn't eat any of those kids of things---he's a plain meat and potatoes kinda guy so he didn't enjoy any of it. There was some kind of fancy cheese in honey. Now DH loves cheese and he HATED this. I didn't care for it either.

I got roasted chicken and whatever else came with it. I really don't remember. The chicken was ok. I ate it. But I don't remember being WOW-ed by it. They did allow DH to get the kid's green beans and mashed potatoes with his roasted chicken instead of whatever it came with.

The kids got grapes and cheese to start with. DS got chicken nuggets. DD got a roasted chicken leg. All of which went uneaten.

The dessert was ok. It was a white and dark chocolate thingy. The whole plate was made to look like a clock--very cute.

The kid's dessert was three "ice cream" cones: chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. They were TINY. And I don't think they were really ice cream. They were some kind of "fluffy" stuff that wasn't even cold. Very weird and tasteless.

We ate, we left, and headed out of the park with DS crying about leaving and DD asleep in the stroller. So sad.

I felt awful for my DD bc I knew she was feeling horrible and I felt like a bad Mommy b/c DS was missing so much. SIGH

Would my girl feel better or did our day end here with nothing to show for it?

Oh my! I am definitely understanding where the title of your TR came from. Poor DH and poor baby! aww, you can tell she doesn't feel good at all in her pictures. :( I sure hope things got better after this!!

Your poor husband and daughter. My husband has had 5 kidney stones in the last 20 years. The last one resulted in having it blasted by lithotripsy. Thank goodness it never happened at Disney. I feel bad that your husband had to experience it on vacation. I hope your daughter just had a mild virus and the rest of your trip went well.

OHHHHH NOOOOO YIKES!!

Kidney stone and throwing up?? OMG- I can just imagine how upsetting that has to be.. We had lots of oopsies, tantrums and frustrations along our trip and I wanted to scream... You just plan this perfect Disney trip and then it just doesn't turn out the way you envisioned it for the past year? :( I have had the worst year ever ( mom died of cancer in April and then I lost my job a month before our trip in September) Our trip was a nice break from reality although it wasn't perfect, I am still glad we went.

I will definitely let you know when I start my TR. I have a PTR if you want to check that out- Second Star to the Right, And straight on Till Morning :)

Cant wait to read more!

Oh goodness I hope he doesn't develop more! We are almost 3 weeks post trip and he STILL hasn't passed it. He felt mostly discomfort but not enough to keep us from going to the parks. so that was a blessing. My mom had a bunch in her life as well. A bunch at one time that required surgery. She kept them in a medicine bottle! LOL

Thank you! I felt so bad for my girl. DH is a big boy, he can take it, but she was so disappointed. :-( Hopefully she will want to do BBB next year.

Sorry to hear about your mom! We went the Jan (2009) after my father passed the November before and it was helpful to focus on something else.
I will look for your TR for sure!
Thanks for reading along.

Day THREE Continued: Monday: Still no miracles for our Monday at MK

This report is a little text heavy—SORRY! It is also pretty short. But a quick read at least! :)

When I left off, we were headed back to our hotel room with a sick little girl and all our plans thrown in the air.

We got back to our room around 3-3:30pm. DD was instantly asleep.

She slept for 2 hours in our bed in the room and then and woke up with a slight fever (100). I gave her some meds and she fell back asleep on the couch with my sons Thomas blanket my MIL made him--watching Stacey! This was troubling to me b/c my daughter has boundless energy and never sleeps. She stopped napping at 2 people!!!!

DS was nuts! Trapped in the hotel room when all he wanted was to go to the park---oh to be that close and not be able to go play and ride. This was the first time he had been at Disney and really knew what it was and had helped plan so he KNEW what he was missing out on.

He didn't quite get that when I canceled DD BBB appointment I had canceled his knight appointment as well. He kept asking when he was going to be "made into a knight." I explained it but he just wanted to be a knight! I am glad the CRT gave him a sword. That helped some.

DH took him to the pool for a bit which gave him an outlet for his energy and distracted him. I felt bad for both my kids. She was sick and he wasn’t getting a fun vacation at the moment either.

I was trying to keep a perspective (because seriously, things could have been worse) and I reminded myself that we were staying in a beautiful resort, he was seeing very cool animals and playing in an incredible pool/splash area, and had been to MK that morning---he was having fun--it just wasn't the fun I had anticipated.

But can I be real for a moment? I felt badly for me as well. I can’t really explain how sad I felt for myself. I know that sounds so terrible. But I think any time there is a dream lost, you are sad. I wanted this “magic” for my daughter so much and I wanted to witness it. And I was pouting and mourning the loss of the magic for her----but for myself as well. I hope I don’t sound like a complete brat.

MK day was supposed to be all about her---dressing up, being treated like a princess and all that goes into that. Our HS day was going to be focused on DS and training with the Jedi's. And she had lost her day!

When she woke up again around 6:30 she had renewed energy and felt so much better. The park was open until 11 and she begged to go back.
She didn’t have a fever and she said her stomach didn’t hurt but her side did a little. I was going on the assumption that it was sore from throwing up.

We went back to MK and it was like rope drop all over again. There were hundreds of people swarming into MK around 7:30ish. Why were they all here? Was there something going on we weren’t aware of? It wasn’t a party night. We finally figured out it was b/c it was open late and all the other parks had closed earlier.

We started with Stitch’s Great Escape (which they had asked for frequently). I went on this attraction with the kids and DS wasn’t so sure about all the darkness, blowing air, flashing lights and loud noises. I had warned him about the blowing air and told him as much as I could to prepare him. He was determined to go b/c Stitch is his favorite. So he asked me to put my hand on the back of his neck to block the air. If I moved my hand a bit, he protested. The bars that come down on your shoulders actually hurt me! I had to wiggle down in my seat so it wasn’t pressing on my shoulders so much. OUCH. I heard the lady next to me say something about it as well.

At the ride dump DS and DD each bought a stuffed Stitch. Stitch is their favorite character at the moment. They each had saved money through the year in their piggy banks for spending money at Disney. So they each had a $50 Disney gift card. It really saved on, “Can I have this? Can I have that?” I just simply said, “Yes, if that is what you want to spend your money on.” Then I would explain how much they had left after buying something. I would let them know if they had enough or not. But buying Stitch was their first purchase. He was $22-25ish?? I can't remember exactly.

After that we went back for the Voyage of the Little Mermaid which was now open. There was absolutely no one in line. We flew through the que and right up to the clamshell cars. I wished we actually could have taken a little bit more time to see all the details.

One of the animatronic Ariel’s was messed up and her right eye was wonky and rolling in around in its animatronic socket. It was disconcerting! LOL But the ride was cute, calm and had cool air. Every time I see Disney's animatronics, I am re-amazed at the skill, the detail and the life-likeness (if that's a word).

Anyway, it was a good one for DD and her stomach. I don't think we would be hitting any fast rides tonight.

As we were walking around, the 9:00 Wishes fireworks started so we stopped in Fantasyland by Gaston’s tavern to watch. It was actually a great place to watch.

DH bought three Mickey Head Ice Creams—one for me, one for him and one for the kids to share. Neither one of them wanted it. So we ended up throwing it away! Grrrr Such a waste of a Mickey Head--and money! But I was not about to insist anyone eat it. Especially DD.

I did think of looking for a family with one kid to see if they wanted it. But I thought that might be a little weird. So, I didn't.

DS was sitting in the stroller again by then and feeling puny and running a low-grade fever again---at least it felt that way to me---because I did not have a thermometer with me. So we headed out after the fireworks. DS was not too happy to share the stroller but he was much easier to carry than she would have been.

She fell asleep on the bus! There's something to say about Daddy's and their little girls because she was leaning on his shoulder and he was so concerned.

All in all a pretty disappointing day. I felt like out park ticket money had been wasted, my hopes for the day were long shredded, DS barely experienced the park, DD was sick and DH wasn’t feeling so hot either. '

Everyone was in bed asleep by 10:30. So ends vacation day 1!!! Ugh and double ugh.

I'm sorry I didn't have more pictures but I don't think I even took my camera to the park when we went back.

What shall tomorrow bring? Is she hospital bound as well?

Don't feel bad about being sad. My son got sick on one of our trips and I felt the same way. The rest of the family went on to the parks while I stayed in the room. I definitely had a pity party. I think you need to start working on a do over trip, one to erase the bad memories of this trip.

I was hoping things got better!! :( I don't blame you one bit or think you were being selfish. We all get such high hopes for our WDW vacations after all that intense planning. I would be so disappointed, too, for all involved, myself included!

Thank you! I am glad I am not the only one! We are planning our next one. We are only in the early stages though---thinking Beach Club sometime in early/mid September.

If DD is willing, I will shoot for BB again. :-)
