All questions about 5X Rewards here...

Is this thread talking about the Disney Premiere Visa from Chase (the one with the $49 annual fee)? The Chase site mentions 2% back on gas, groceries, restaurants, and Disney locations, but I don't see any mention of these occasional bonus amounts everyone is talking about. Is that mentioned anywhere in the fine print?

No. Before the premiere they offered 5% to select consumers in select catergories, if you spent a specific amount.

The premiere is 2% on gas, groceries, restaurants and Disney.

One of the Chase cards I have (Its not the Disney one) offers 5% back in certain categories every quater. Next quarter (July - Sep) one of the categories is Theme Parks. I assume this 5% would apply to the purchase of the tickets even if I'm buying them online from Disney's website. But, would this also apply to purchases made at the parks from gift shops and restaurants? Would the restaurant purchases be treated as a "food and beverage" category and not a "theme park" category?

Thats what I'm thinking Nothing in a long time

Does anyone know for certain if the 3x and 5x rewards things ARE a thing of the past now? I've been curious. I rarely ever use our Disney card at all anymore because the incentive just isn't worth it (got them for the big introductory offers).

It is not as though Chase is going to make an announcement. But since no one has seen an offer in over a year, it is pretty apparent that they are a thing of the past.

Thanks! :) I had only ever heard of the 5x and 3x offers here on Disboards, so I figured if people here hadn't received them for quite some time then they had probably phased them out. Didn't want to always be hoping to receive something that didn't exist anymore! LOL

Does the Disney Visa or Disney Premier Visa still ever offer 5x on points? I just noticed that this thread was from 2009, so is this something that is still going on?

Oops! Just saw the end of the thread - seems my question has already been answered!

Perhaps since 3x or 5x promos haven't been offered for some time, perhaps this should no longer be a sticky on the budget board?:confused3 ;)

They haven't sent the offers for the regular Disney Visa in a few years. I can't answer on the Premier Disney card as far as offers. I don't feel it's worth the cost to me.

It's been awhile since anyone has posted on this subject..so I'm not sure who will see this:) My family and I are returning to Disney this August after going 3 years ago and we have been saving up points in that time span. We were using the Disney card to rack up points towards our vacation (they can also be used for airline travel with a premier card, nice bonus), but we have started another card to help us with our trip this time. I signed up for the Southwest card when they offered 50,000 points for signing up and spending $2,000 in 3 months (not a problem if you use it and repay it for all your bills, gas, groceries, etc). Later on, I also bought 15,000 points for $420 (which also gave us a bonus 5,500 points for doing it). Now, when I buy our flights later this month (for 4 people) from PHL to MCO, we can just use points for it. That means, after paying for points, using the card, and then paying for early bird boarding, etc....we're flying round trip to Orlando for $550. Now, if I had thought about it more at the time, if my wife had signed up for a card as well and received 50,000 points; I wouldn't have paid for points at all. That would mean getting 4 roundtrip tickets for about $100-$150. It's another option to think about! My wife and I are going to continue collecting points...for a vacation for us!:) Hope this helps someone.

So, what is the advantage to using the regular disney chase card? Do they give any points at all on it?

Yes you get 1% on all purchases for the regular Disney Visa. No Disney Visa give 5%. This thread (which needs to be removed) was about an very old promotion, where you got 5% on select categories or for purchases above a certain threshold.
