OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

Thanks Teena :) I'm glad food will still be available somewhere near the pool. I'm hoping the same goes for adult beverages?

I saw the detail a while ago that said what was going to be supplied while it was down and I remember thinking "oh good, there won't be any problems". Of course I can't find that information now but when I do, I'll report back.

:welcome: new and returning friends!!!

Sad news. We will just miss you but it sounds like you have some fun adventures coming up soon!We will have to catch you in november

DH and I finally secured a sitter for our dogs so we are now officially booked 8/3-8/6 BC . We are exicited for this quick trip back so soon:cool1:

Please add me to the list. Thanks! :cool1:

:cheer2:

Okay, can't stay hiding anymore - I'm getting too excited - guess it must be the fact that August starts tomorrow

We are going to the Beach Club - CL GV 8/15 to 8/22 - splurging on this vacation since my girls are getting older - and we'll be empty nesters (at least during the school year!!) a year from now

:cool1:

Glad to have you peeking out of the dark! I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

Wow! Haven't been on the DIS in a while, but couldn't contain my excitement any longer and had to get back on now that we have confirmed our reservation at the Yacht Club for Marathon Weekend!! :cool1:

Husband is going "goofy" and doing both the 1/2 and the full marathons so we are trying out a new place for this trip (kid-free too)! We have stayed at Poly, CBR, and POR, and husband and son have stayed at Sports for Star Wars Weekend once. This will be our first Epcot resort and I'm so excited!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Now I'm off to read this thread (which I'm sure will get me even more excited)!

Sara

Glad to have you back on the DIS. May I add you to the Be Our Guest List? What are your dates?

:goodvibes

Just dropping in to say that we booked BC for our April 2013 trip!!! We'll be there 4/20-4/28. Very excited to try BC for the first time! :cool1:

:yay:

I'll put you on the Be Our Guest list- Congrats on your first stay at the Beach Club!

Thanks, Teena!!!

I subscribe to Disney Food Blog and got an email today and it was in it as I posted earlier. It was also on their blog and I posted the link. With that said, I came here to see if anyone here knows if it is, in fact, true. I had not heard anything about it before the email.

So can anyone confirm or deny this? I really don't want to be spreading untruths . . . :sad1:

As soon as we have some definite info on the dates of the rehab (it may be later than what was posted in the blog) and details about will be available where for food and drinks, we will post it here.

Kelleigh1: Have a great day! We love the Pats!

Teena: I love the picture of you & Bob with Lily!

To all heading to my favorite place: ENJOY!!!!!

ROLFLMAO!!!!!

Look around on the ground by that gate for my eyeballs. I got the worst 'Ice Cream headache' from chugging a slushy there. The people we were touring with were on a mission and were not about to wait for me to casually enjoy that drink. You'd never think that as hot as it was that day that an ice cream headache was in the realm of possibilities, but it WAS!! :crazy2:

Thank you! I want all of you to know that reading your posts puts a wag in my tail.

Now I have a question for all of you. Where is this "Ariel's" place that you are talking about? I've seen pictures of the Ariel statue at the BCV. Is it there?

My next question is what does "the family of the day at Storm Along Bay" get?

When the kids are not in the pool I am looking to sneak in and practice my SAB lazy river tubing technique. It takes a lot of practice to effect that "I'm too sexy for my inner tube" look so I figure I better get to work. I've been told I look like a dead body draped on top of a tube so I've got a lot of work to do on my style points.

~NM

PS. Telling your Mother she looks like a dead body on an inner tube is a really quick way to get yourself BANNED from the pool, possibly for LIFE!

Ariel's is used for wedding receptions and events, it's right next door to the bar at the Beach Club (Martha's Vineyard). You walk down past Cape May and there's a little hallway that leads back to it.

If I'm not mistaken, Ariel's was at one time a fancier sit-down restaurant at BC. At some point though, it was decided that between YC and BC, there was only need for 1 such place, so Yachtsman Steakhouse remained open and Ariel's closed. Now I believe it's used for meeting space and/or private functions. It's located at BC, around the corner and further down the hallway (heading towards YC) from Cape May Cafe.

You're correct except I was told the reason they closed Ariel's was because they opened Flying Fish and they didn't think we needed two seafood high end restaurants in the same area. Might have been true then but we could use it now.

Oh my goodness! This is too funny!!!!!

Teena-- I just saw the picture of the proud grandparents with Lily! Absolutely adorable! I love her blonde curls!!!!

When we were in Jamaica a few years back, there was a sign on a trampoline in the water that said "Weight Limit: 350 lbs." My son was concerned that I was too large to go on.

Love how our kids never stop boosting our self-esteem!

I'm not a seafood lover at all, but DP says that the potato crusted snapper at FFC is not only the best meal he's had on Disney property but easily one of the top 5 meals he's had in his life!

Thanks to all the peeps who answered this question. I guess I will just have to check it out when I get down there.

Dee... remember, when you use a pool noodle to beat your sassy children it usually doesn't leave marks. I frequently remind my kids to sleep with one eye open 'cause I'm coming for them when they sleep. This is why they call me the Ninja Mom. They never see me coming and before they know it I've nailed them for what ever transgression they are committing. Boys think they can get away with anything but us Mom's know all and see all.

Mwa ha, ha!

:wave2: Thanks for the recommendation. We're going to FFC on our trip and will keep that in mind. Sounds like a great meal to me!

Hi all, just back from a quick stay at the YC. It was DH and I, and we had a fabulous time! DH declared the YC his new favorite resort. Some quick observations:

We had requested a king bed and got it, which was very exciting. The room had sort of an odd layout,,the double sinks were in the bathroom along with the toilet and the shower..which made maneuvering in the morning kinda difficult. It also had a bar area with a sink and huge cabinets underneath...which was great. Also, there was no chest of drawers, but a his and hers closet..pretty cool.

We were on the 1st floor, in between the tennis court and the quiet pool. The location was fab,,very close to the lobby, and so convenient if we wanted to take a dip on the quiet pool.

The Crews Cup is a lifesaver for those late night meals. Food is delicious and the atmosphere is comfy. EXCELLENT clam chowder. (we're from new england and couldnt believe how good it was)

Stormalong bay lives up to the hype. Wow, what a great place. Kept saying to my DH that if I came here as a kid I would never have wanted to leave! It was open till 11 each night. Go early or after 7 to avoid the crowds. We had heard someone comment that the lazy river was "broken"..not sure what that meant..maybe theres more of a current usually ??

Beaches and cream was tasty and fun as always.

All of the YC CMs we encountered were absolutely wonderful. Loved talking with Bruce, the greeter in the lobby.

The sharing with all 5 of the epcot resorts on the bus to AK is kinda nutty...wish they would break that up...sure felt like a long time going to/from.

We had stayed at the BC on our honeymoon, so it was interesting to compare the differences. The yacht is def more quiet and "adult". There was a convention in town,,,but it didnt affect us either way.

If anyone has any questions....lemme know. We can't wait to go back, missing it so much already!!!

I never thought I'd be one of those people upset/complaining about a refurb...until I read about Hurricane Hannahs! The ability to get a grilled cheese sandwich for my very-picky/eats-next–to-nothing daughter was a huge factor for us. :guilty: Looking at menus on AllEars, I don’t see anyplace else around that offers a grilled cheese sandwich. Does anyone know of any??

Theres a grilled cheese on the Beaches and Cream menu now....although not sure if you could get that to go.

In college we used to say where ever there was an iron there could be a grilled cheese. Beaches and Cream does sound a lot better though.....

And there ARE irons in the rooms! I can post a picture if anyone wants.

Perhaps KJay could walk along SAB selling Grilled Cheese sandwiches while TigrLuvsPooh hawks the Grey Goose Slushies.

Still looking for more information on the closure, so I hope to be able to post details as they emerge.

This is why I don't have kids.

But when I went to visit my sister for my niece's graduation back in June, my niece said "you're getting so skinny". I love that kid, especially since I'm about 10-15lbs heavier than the last time she saw me.
