Change to dining plan? Anyone know?

My guess would be that is a mistake. You do get an appetizer with the Deluxe Dining.

The text here does not mention it and Disney does not change the terms of the plan in the middle of the year.

I'll see your link and raise you one:

This is the actual brochure they give out. The subject in question is on the top of page 4.
They do mention that terms are subject to change without notice, so you can show up and they can tell you that the dining plan now only includes a beverage and a napkin....
But it's pretty bad for a company like Dsiney to leave a mistake like this on the brochure through the entire year.
Once again, I will report back when they respond to my email.

They did not leave the mistake on this brochure for the year. The brochure in question is dated March 14. Apparently for some reason they came out with a new brochure. If the reason for that is to take the appetizer off the deluxe and put it on the regular, I'm sure we'll hear something official about that quite soon.

Don't get too happy. I'm betting this is a mistake as I can see no reason for Disney to delete the appetizer from the deluxe plan, but offer it with the regular plan.

I could be wrong but I did not see where it was removed from deluxe plan

I'm not seeing a date - where did you find it?
I only see that the brochure is valid for arrivals 1/1/2012 to 12/31/2012...

At the very end it says "Disney C 31412". I wouldn't have read it as a date, but interpreted that way it would be March 14, 2012. Maybe that's how Disney normally dates things and I just didn't know it.

Last page after the Disney copyright is 31412 indicating the brochure date.

Scroll down to the very end of the brochure and look at the small print, there you will see the printing date.

I guess it is possible that Disney would put the appetizer back on the regular...but I don't see why they wouldn't announce it.

Just spoke with DD and they confirmed that YES the app is included in the DDP for TS lunch/dinner. Hopefully Disney will announce the change and inform the CMs so people don't have to validate the change.

The current Disney Dining Plan brochure,
disneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2012Dining.pdf

shows a print date of 3/14/2012,
as does the current Deluxe Dining Plan,
disneyworld.disney.go.com/media/wdw_nextgen/CoreCatalog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2012DeluxeDining.pdf

They both show:
Table-Service Meals
FOR LUNCH/DINNER
Appetizer
Entrée
Dessert
Non-alcoholic beverage

The previous Disney Dining Plan brochure shows a print date of 1/10/211 shows:
Table-Service Meals
FOR LUNCH/DINNER
Entrée
Dessert
Non-alcoholic beverage

All three show 'Valid for arrivals 1/1/12 - 12/31/12'

Might mean nothing but it definitively has been update during the calendar year and on the Disney site itself it definitively does say, for the moment, Table Service Dining Plan meals include more food than they did in January.

Since it's a new brochure, we might be able to conclude this is not a mistake, although I'm not willing to take the word of WDW-DINE for much. At any rate it hasn't come up anywhere else. With some research, it should be easy to definitively confirm, and it is very odd that no announcement has been made by Disney.

No need to raise me one. That is what the OP was referring to and I pointed out that there seems to be a mistake somewhere as it is not consistent. Don't know which one is incorrect though.

Which plan are they on?

I clicked the online brochure and did not see it. Am I looking in the wrong spot? I went to the Disney World site. I would love it if the appetizer is now included. I just can't find where it is listed.

Never mind, I found it :)

If the brochure is correct, doesn't seem odd that they add an appetizer to the 1 credit meals but not the 2 credit meals? Even more incentive not to use credits at the signature restaurants.

Maybe that's what they want? For people to pay OOP for signature dining? I don't know ... what's the actual "cost per credit" you pay on the dining plan? It might make sense (for Disney) from a financial standpoint.

The moderator (I guess) has changed the DDP faq at the top of the page saying that it is confirmed with Disney Dining that apps are included.

I didn't say it was confirmed. If you read the first post I have noted it is a new brochure and that DISNEY DINING (WDW-DINE) has confirmed according to posters who called, but I do not trust Disney Dining to give accurate information on much of anything, and this has not been picked up anywhere else. If it turns out to be a mistake, hopefully they'll change the brochure. If it is not a mistake, it will end up being confirmed either by multiple sources or by guests who are actually in the restaurants and getting their appetizers. I did put the appetizer part in the title at first but I've removed it; I don't think it belongs there yet.

A new brochure was issued on 3/14/12 which stated the regular plan now includes appetizers for lunch and dinner at TS restaurants - but only for 1 credit meals, not for signature meals. Calls to Disney Dining have confirmed this, but DISNEY ITSELF HAS NOT YET MADE AN OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT THAT HAS BEEN PICKED UP ANYWHERE ELSE.

I also noticed you get an appetizer with room service for 2 credits. It just seems very inconsistent to offer an appetizer only some of the time. People get confused so easily regarding the plans already. Offering appetizers some of the time seems like a nightmare to explain to guests.

I am sorry if this was confusing or considered a complete and official confirmation - I don't like to say so when the only source is WDW-DINE. I've changed the commentary on the new brochure. AT any rate it's a weird change - appetizers on one credit meals and room service only? Really odd. I wonder what changes Disney is going to make to menus to accommodate this if it's true.
