March 2012: Spring Break, Here we come! Threadjackers take over the world!

Oh shush now... We'll play it by ear and do what we feel like doing. :) If you want to ride Soarin' and we want to ride TT... It's all good with me. :)

D~

We might as well ride Soarin' together, since our FPs will be roughly the same window.

Stupid new rules. :headache:
:lmao::rotfl2:

I'm hungry, so what's for lunch today? :confused3

Sounds good to me...

I dunno what's for lunch... I am eating a bowl of cinnamon Life cereal as I type.

D~ <--- Talented. :)

Hope you get row 1!

Leftovers for lunch. I'm starved now. Been up since 6. Colored my hair while dh kept an eye on his majesty. He had some small seizures last night when he first went into REM so not leaving him alone. Nothing since! I was going to say he's still sleeping, but he just made his debut. So off I go to make breakfast.

I think I'm going to make some cream of wheat. Haven't had it for years and bought it the other day at the store. I have some fresh strawberries to put in it.

I have to try not to think about what row I'm in, or how high I actually am. I'm terrified of heights ... and I do panic a bit at the start of Soarin' ... as long as I can let myself get into it, then I'm okay. Otherwise, it's Panic City the whole ride. :scared1:

Sorry Anakin had more seizures the other night. Hope he's doing well today. :goodvibes

I don't know if I've ever had Cream of Wheat. :confused3

This is Stormy.

e96228d8.jpg

He has a double-spiral fracture in his back leg. He had a rough experience with the animal hospital (we won't be back and we are spreading the word at how bad they are). He could use some prayers ... I'm hoping my vet can fix him up today ... however ... we're dipping deeply into our finances, and he will HAVE to have surgery ASAP ... I'm not entirely sure what can be done for him, and I'm not entirely sure WHO can take care of him if we go away.

I should have more info later today ... but right now, it's not looking like we'll get to go. We could really use some pixie dust right about now ...

You know I am sending all the PIxie Dust your way that I can! (((Hugs))) You know, if you lived closer, I'd totally volunteer Josh to take care of Stormy.

D~

Oh, and I just had to comment on your picture too... Stormy is adorable, and he looks like he is hating every moment of that cast.

Check out that Portal of Power too... My girls (and I) are so addicted to that game! We only have like 6 characters though - and my girls never like to play with me because I kill them all in less than a half hour. LOL

D~

I am so sorry to hear about Stormy's leg and hope everything works out so you can still go on your trip.

Oh no .. Poor Stormy ! :sad1:

Did you ask your vet if maybe you could kennel him while you are gone ? My friend's cat needed special care (dialysis ) and her vet let her leave him there when she went away.
Not sure if it's an option for you guys but worth considering. I would hate for you not to go. :sad2:

Poor stormy. I'll be praying for him and you all to find the right vet that will be able to fix him up!

I don't want to make light of this at all, but what is it about Disney vacations and all breaking lose right before trips?! Usually it's cars, washer/dryers, refrigerators, you know big appliances. Lately it's been beloved pets and family members I am reading about in PTRs. At least the big appliances are replacable.

Thank you, D, but please focus on Rufus and your family. I saw Marianne's update. Fingers are crossed it's something simple (and treatable) that the other vet overlooked.

Thank you D. :flower3: He's my third child (as I know you can totally relate). He did hate every minute of that cast, which is why it only lasted less than 20 minutes. He spent the night at the hospital and is currently at another vet (recommended by a friend). We still don't know if they can even treat him. So I'm really stressing right now. I also have a test today. I know I'll do poorly, because all I can think about is Stormy. I am so heartbroken over everything that is going on with him.

I've yet to try Skylanders ... but DH will play with the kids. That box in the background, is literally FULL of them. There were several sitting on the floor. I'd say it would probably be easier to name the ones we don't have versus the ones we do. :sad2: Everytime we go out, DH looks for more (and I'm forced to do the same). Of course, DS is always asking if we can go check stores ... and DH usually gives in. It is a huge money sink.

How is your PoP holding up? Ours seems to be very glitchy. It would randomly stop reading Player 2. And lots of times, DS will play (alone) and some of the Skylanders can't be read at all. We get error messages about the Skylander, or it won't find the PoP, or nothing happens when a Skylander is placed on the PoP.

Saying prayers for Stormy.

Thank you so much. :flower3:

I am so sorry to hear about Stormy's leg and hope everything works out so you can still go on your trip.

Thank you Corrine. :flower3: The trip is honestly not looking good. We have no one to care for Stormy. And the quote I got for his leg on the phone .... :scared1: If we go, anything OOP would be out. That means two meals I'll have to give up. No IoA. And if the quote is on the low side, it will devour our entire savings. I'm just not sure right now. Talk of cancelling is on the table. Nothing is confirmed. Waiting to see what the vet says and get a better estimate on cost ... today and costs over the next few weeks for him (since he'll have to have follow up x-rays and other office visits).

Oh no .. Poor Stormy ! :sad1:

It's not entirely out of the question, but we're starting to have to look at finances and we'd have to find a vet that would be able to care for Stormy. I'll have to just wait and see what the vet says when they call today. We're still playing with missing puzzle pieces ... and we'll be able to better understand what our options are once we get something more definite on the kitty's treatment plan.

I honestly hadn't considered kenneling, but truthfully, I just didn't think about it. Thanks for mentioning it.

DH went to work while I called around to vets. I found one in Knoxville, but it was easy to get to (I had been there before). I talked to the actual vet (not a tech) and he gave me lots of bad news. He didn't mean to upset me, but he was just being honest. He said that odds are, he'd need a plate put in, and with him being a difficult cat, our bill is going to be much higher. He said that follow-up visits were really going ot add up. He gave me a quote and ... well, it was HIGH. I called DH, bawling, and he took off work. He found a different vet (which is more expensive, I'm sure) and asked if we could take Stormy there instead. His coworker highly recommended the office and he called and talked to someone about the situation. They didn't know if they could help us, but said to bring him in. So we dropped Stormy off with his x-rays and now it's the waiting game.

Thank you Tink. :flower3:

It does seem to be a bad year for lots of people ... And it seems the bulk of us are all overlapping with trips.

I'd much rather have my washing machine explode or something. I could get behind that if it makes my kitty better. :)

On to Kouzzina! This is not a new place for us. We actually enjoyed dining her in 2010 (which was the last time we stayed at CBR as well!). DH eventually asked for this ADR, and when I originally cancelled it, he got a little upset. (Not angry, but kinda down.) So I rebooked it for another evening just for him. When I told him, he was all happy again. :lovestruc

In 2010, we enjoyed our meal. I'm a fan of Cat Cora (I love watching Food Network). I was anxious to try her recipes! YUM!

While we were enjoying our bread, I noticed DD had an interesting look going on. She'll whip me for posting this ... as I'm not sure she even remembers this picture ... but I love it!

Disneyworld2010038.jpg

(Hint: Can you see the sky in the background? The picture was taken at 6:47pm.)

DH had the Fisherman's Stew (which he devoured):

I enjoyed the Pastitsio:

For dessert, I enjoyed the Loukoumades
Disneyworld2010043.jpg

DH had to have the Baklava
Disneyworld2010044.jpg

The one thing different I want about this meal is the weather. As soon as we finished dining in 2010, we got up and DOWN came a MONSTEROUS downpour. Within one or two seconds, we were drenched from head to toe. We were trying to make it to a dry place, but inside (and being soaked), it was COLD! We made it up to the lobby. DD and I went in to the restroom to try to dry ourselves off enough so we wouldn't freeze indoors. DH went and bought some umbrellas for us. We get outside, and it stopped.

Very much looking forward to dinner here again on March 4th. :goodvibes

Ok...I'm slow...I'm getting all caught up. LOL.

Yay for our beloved Kouzzina!!!! :cheer2:

I'm sorry for your poor kitty. I'm keeping my fingers crossed all will go well and you'll be able to keep your trip.

It looks like everything is a go for us after my step-dad's eye surgery scare. He is doing great. Hopefully your cat will be as well. Maybe these things are just testing us, so we will trully appricate our trips. :confused3

I've been telling the people at work that I'm the glass half full girl and am only thinking good thoughts. Its worked so far. My good vibes are coming your way. :goodvibes

OH NO! Poor, poor Stormy! Bless his little pea-pickin' heart! I hope that everything goes well today. Sending a dump truck full of pixie dust your way!

Oh Lidian, I am sorry about Stormy! I hope you are able to find a good vet who can fix up your furry baby and not break the bank so that you can still go visit your favorite mouse. :goodvibes

Your DD looks so big in the photo outside the Japanese restaurant. they grow up WAY too fast.

I will say a prayer for you so that everything works out for you.

I know Tink... It's quite sad.

If it makes you feel any better (which I am sure it won't)... Our water heater went out last week... :confused3 Thankfully, it is still under warranty, and the manufacturer overnighted us the part - unfortunately Josh doesn't think it will last long.

Our fridge just started making a really loud buzzing sound... :confused3

And we think a bearing has started to go out on our dryer.... But that's 10+ years old, so we aren't surprised about that one.

I didn't mention any of these in my PTR, since we've been so consumed with Ruf.

After all, we have another (yellow) fridge down stairs if worse comes to worse.

I can boil water on the stove.

And I can hang a clothes line in the basment.

But, yes, we are going to Disney. :rolleyes1

(trying to find my sense of humor here, is it working?)

Thank you, D, but please focus on Rufus and your family. I saw Marianne's update. Fingers are crossed it's something simple (and treatable) that the other vet overlooked.

Thank you, I updated my PTR... not good news.

I agree - total money pit. But it's fun! :) Our PoP is annoying, it always tells us we have too many Skylanders on it... :surfweb:

I was also going to mention kenneling, especially at the vet, since Stormy needs the care anyways. :confused3

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Stormy right now. I am still holding out hope that you will still be able to go on your trip. It just will not be the same with out you. After all you were one of the reasons I wanted to go in March. :rolleyes1

I keep remembering last year when you though you would have to cancel the trip and things ended up working out. I am hoping that things will be able to work out in your favor again.:thumbsup2

I love you guys and am praying for the best.:grouphug:

Oh and D,
Feel free to bug me about the lines app as well. I have the app on my phone too.:thumbsup2

Ok...I'm slow...I'm getting all caught up. LOL.

Yay for our beloved Kouzzina!!!!

Hi again! Nice to see you around these parts. :goodvibes

I'm sorry for your poor kitty. I'm keeping my fingers crossed all will go well and you'll be able to keep your trip.

Thank you Tee. :flower3: I'm so glad your step-dad is doing so well! I'm praying hard that something will happen so we can have our cake and eat it to, in a sense.

Right now, I'm struggling to see anything other than an empty glass. I have so much pain and anger built up. I did release some of my emotions this morning, but I suffered later with a severe migraine. :sad2: I'm doing better now. News on Stormy at the bottom.

OH NO! Poor, poor Stormy! Bless his little pea-pickin' heart! I hope that everything goes well today. Sending a dump truck full of pixie dust your way!

Thank you! :flower3: We could really use a dump truck full of some good ole Pixie Dust!

DD is huge! I can't believe that in a couple of years, she'll tower over me. :sad2: I already find it sad that our feet are the same size.

I know Tink... It's quite sad.

Thanks for the chuckle. I really needed it.

Thank you, I updated my PTR... not good news.

Your PTR is on my read list, but from our texting earlier ... I am truly sorry.:hug::hug: I can't begin to imagine what you're going through. In my case, worst scenario is an amputated leg and no trip this year. My heart just aches for your family. Please know if you need a friend, I am here for you.:hug::hug:

I wish I could do more than I am so sorry. I've been thinking about you and Stormy all day and hope that things work out.

Thank you. We've already talked, so I don't think I have anything new to report that you haven't heard about. Again, I am so sorry for what your family is going through. Spoil him rotten!!!!!

I agree - total money pit. But it's fun! Our PoP is annoying, it always tells us we have too many Skylanders on it...

See above - typed in the wrong spot and too lazy to move it.

We don't get that message very often. It usually tells us we don't have enough. :sad2: DH has printed out a shipping label and it's being returned to the manufacturer. We should have a new one in a couple of weeks. I don't know how well DS will go without playing it for that long though. If yours keeps acting buggy, maybe you should look into sending it to the manufacturer for a new one? :confused3

Grrr... I am so annoyed for you - I hope there is a way to figure it out so it works out. I need you to update Lines for me.

Would it count if I updated from my living room? :confused3

I was also going to mention kenneling, especially at the vet, since Stormy needs the care anyways.

D~

Thanks for the mention. Things are still in the air.

Oh and D,
Feel free to bug me about the lines app as well. I have the app on my phone too.

Thank you Corrine. :flower3: I have been excited to meet you. I hated we were just missing each other last year. I'm working hard to not have to break bad news to the kids. At this point ... I'm terrified to ever book another WDW trip. I can't handle the stress. :headache:

Stormy news:
It was nearly 6pm before we heard from the vet. I sent DH a text and said to call since it only takes a minute to look at an x-ray and decide if there's a possibility or not. That's all I wanted to know.

The vet said she talked to several of her colleagues before calling and said that right now, she wants to keep him in just a splint. She wants to see how he does in a couple of days. They'll be keeping him at their facility during this time. They agree that surgery would be better to repair the leg, but their biggest fear is him ripping off the splint and/or bandages and doing more harm to his leg -- and thus the only option will be to amputate (at that point).

Stormy is an aggressive cat. Mom calls him "the Doberman". But he's actually just a protective cat. He was a rescue kitty, so there's no telling what kind of emotional scars he carried before he joined our family.

The biggest issue is him keeping the splint on. The vet said he's been working on getting it off all day. They hope that he'll finally conform and accept it ... but I know my cat too well. He won't accept it.

Tomorrow AM, DH is going to call the vet and A) get some financial estimates so we know what kind of figures we're looking at and B) to try to get a better understanding of how long they plan to keep him. If they are looking to keep him for the next two weeks, things will work out okay. However, I know Stormy. Two weeks away from home will be too much for him. He stresses out if I'm gone too long during the day. I can't imagine how stressed he is to be away from me for the past two days already. I tried to spend some time with him this AM, but he was in so much pain and so exhausted, he didn't even notice my presence. :guilty:

So in short, right now, still don't know anything. Vet wants to re-evaluate Stormy in a couple of days. We're running out of time to make a decision. I hope to know something a little more solid tomorrow. Will update you all then.

Thank you so much for all the prayers. It truly means a lot to me. :grouphug:

Thanks for the update and everything Liddy. I am soo sorry you are going through this right now, it's not fair what any of us are going through with our "kids".

I really hope that the vet is able to do something for Stormy, and that it works out to be a fair price (cough, cough - like that'll happen, but we can dream)... I am so sad that your trip is in jeopardy.

Huge prayers and hugs coming your way - and thank you for all the prayers for our family too. (((Hugs)))
