Worst Room View Pics Thread

Holy cow! You mean all those rooms back there have the roof view? :scared1: That is a much higher percentage than I'd assumed.

Having seen this thread I am now going to check on here first to see what to request NOT to get if I pay for preferred views :headache: So does the 'roof' view fall into a particular category? I would suggest it be eligible for a 'discount view category' but Disney don't do that :rolleyes1 You're right Shalom, there are quite a few rooms there and I would think that there are also plenty alongside the room from which the pic you quoted was taken!

We've had our hits and misses at our stays!

Worst experience is probably when we got to the All Star Resort(i forget which one) and we had cockroaches in our room :scared1: I flipped, and we all went to the lobby, and got transfered to the Contemporary Resort that day.

Next would have to be when the whole family, me, dh, dd, dd, and dd, were staying at the Contemporary Resort, and i go to tuck in my youngest dd, who was about 3 at the time, and there was a man, or possibly a woman's , back hair all in the sheets. We got a free night stay after that one.

Last Summer we booked the Dolphin, and we got to the room to see several mishaps! There was hair in the shower, blood on the sheets, and the fridge needed an extension cord to be plugged in?! I sent DH to the lobby PRONTO. We got switched to a double balcony :cool1:

Here is our pool view at AKL in 2004. You can't hear the jackhammers though.

Our room buddy.

OK I still think I win. The first picture is looking straight out at where the pool should be and the second picture shows what you saw if you stood right at the window and looked up.

Did you ask to be moved? That is shocking!! :scared1:

Yes, that was a ground floor room and we got moved up a couple of floors and actually had a view of the pool. Still heard the jackhammers though.

We stayed at OKW last year. We were so looking forward to sitting on the balcony in our one bedroomed villa.

Imagine my horror when we got there, the room was lovely, but this was our view......

I was so upset! The rest of the family were content to stay there (as the room was nice) but I was on a mission to change rooms!

We ended up with this view:

Much nicer! Phew!

I would have changed too - if we have a balcony we want to enjoy the view.:thumbsup2

It's quite ironic that Disney can't come up with a creative way of turning these functional, but very unsightly views into something more aesthetically appealing :rolleyes1 They do it in the parks. So why not at the resorts, which generally cost more per day than the average park entry for the family.

Or at the very least, offer a new category of rooms targeted at the die-hard commando guests who are never in their room except to sleep because they spend their entire trip tearing up the parks.

New room category: commando!
Love this idea! :thumbsup2
"View" is last on my room request list (although I know many disagree with me.) But I would be upset being charged more for these "view" rooms.

I see it just like you do because of the way we spend our time when we are there. Resort time means food, at the pool at the in the shower or asleep. I can't recall ever sitting around in our room just to relax. I feel like I am missing something. I relax while I walk :lmao:

We recently stayed at WL with a standard view. Was upgraded to a courtyard view. Here it is!

:lmao: I'm sorry about your bad fortune, but I laughed out loud on this one!

This thread always floors me-we have never stayed deluxe but, I cannot believe they are charging out the wazoo for these rooms and giving people these crappy views. Wow! :scared1:

It would sting a little less perhaps if they weren't categorized as preferred VIEW rooms! I totally get proximity to the main buildings or rooms near the pool for those who want them. But if you are paying for a view, it's usually the one you expect to see out of your window :rolleyes1

Have never seen a WL CY view quite like that one! I'm curious - where did you take the photo from? Does not look like a WL balcony. :)

It was taken from my balcony. You can see the movie screen on the beach from this room but with the trees in the way, you can't see it very good. I took the pic from my balcony - room 2168. I can assure you I stayed at the WL and this was taken from my balcony.

I am not complaining about WL. I loved WL and I didn't stay at the WL for the view as I was hardly in the room.

Are you sure you were upgraded? Just because it faces the courtyard doesn't mean it's a courtyard view. If the courtyard couldn't be seen from the room, they would call it a standard view.

Not sure why you are questioning me. The thread is "worst room views". Yes, I booked a standard but on check-out day, my bill showed "courtyard view". I asked the front desk and they said "you were upgraded". If you will look at Disney's room types, a courtyard view is a view of courtyard, a pool, a waterfall or Bay Lake. Through the trees you can see Bay Lake from my room balcony.:confused3

Oh no! I am so sorry!:flower3: I did not mean to imply you were not at WL or not upgraded! I've just never seen a balcony like that one and thought maybe you took it from a walkway to show the your view. Must be one of those few balconies that look like stone if looking at the Lodge from the courtyard. I always said I would feel terrible for a guest in one of those rooms. It is truly awful! Glad it didn't bother you, but think I would have gone back to the front desk and told them while I very much appreciated the upgrade, a tree blocked any view and the balcony was enclosed and might they have another room available.

Disney truly must trim those trees!!! ::yes::
