Bin Laden - celebrations

While I am disgusted by the OPs comment about how she feels about the celebations in comparison to the ones after 9/11, her feeling that way does not equal an attitude of nasty Americans getting what they deserve (if there is retaliation). I do think thats a pretty big leap.

A stretch from what was posted specifically on this thread, yeah, I can see it, but an overall feeling I've gotten from other threads, I don't think so and you know what, if I've learned anything tonight it's that I'm entitled to my opinion regardless of how disgusting anyone else may find it.

Bless your heart, I'll break it down for you:
:teacher: In this country, a person has the right to express an opinion. Other people should respect that person's right. It doesn't mean they have to agree with it. Better now? :flower3:

:lmao: And giving your opinion in a snarky manner makes it ok to FOR YOU to be disrepectful, right?

A person has a right to express an opinon, correct. Others do NOT have to respect anything. Nor do they have to agree to it. Only give said person the space to express it, that is all that is required.

Yeah, I told you guys the answer would be something like that, pay up people. $$$$ :rotfl:

Last night was a blur!! But thanks for having my back :thumbsup2

DH is getting mad at me because I won't stop posting.

No problem, just wait until they show the video of the burial at sea things will really get heated then. I am going to do what my avatar says, go to bed.

No let me break it down for you ;)
You said "its sad in the USA that we can't a respect a differening opinion" in your post. That is not the same as respecting THE RIGHT to have that opinion. You must not have gotten that when you choose to comment on my post since I did say the OP has the right to her opinion, but that doesn't mean that opinion has to be respected.
No need to thank me for clearing it up, glad to be of help.

This did not quote correctly it is in response to luvmy3

I did not say that, I would never. I must have missed that part of the thread. I was out for an hour or so. I'll have to read back or maybe not is a better idea.

That you are my dear, that you are, as we all are. :thumbsup2

Thats okay, she clearly misunderstood what she posting a response to, maybe she's tired.

I guess I am just amazed that people are butting heads over this issue. I would have thought everyone would be thrilled, in their own way, about the news of bin laden's death. People grieve, handle stress, celebrate or what have you in their own way. To start sniping at each other over how you handled the news is so unbelievably sad to me.

Was I out whooping it up in the streets? No. Did I completely understand those who did? Yep. They are no more or less patriotic than I. It was an emotional night for so many.

Right, it is not what I would have done, but it's not my place to tell others how they should handle it or how others should feel about it.

I can't believe this is even something to argue about here....aren't we all on the same page? We all wanted the scumbag either captured or killed (I preferred the way it was done) and how we react to that news is secondary. Besides..these huge "celebrations" happened in just a few areas and as far as I know are not still going on. It wasn't like the entire country was out dancing in the streets. I think the majority of us went to bed after the news, got up and went to work or school just like we always do. The good guys won. :cool1: <----------this is the extent of my "celebrating".

Swalphin I'm sorry, my fault I was following another pp's comment and got you mixed up in it.
Okay, its definitely time to leave this thread behind.
For those who are still celebrating, have a drink for me. :cool1:

I think most of us (aka Americans) are on the same page about celebrating, it's up to you to what extent you feel like celebrating the event. It's the "not American(s)" who are having a problem with it, for the most part. At least from what I can remember from this spiraling funnel cloud of a thread. :)

No posts from Fred in the last little while. I think she finally passed out from all that drinking and dancing!:rotfl:

Maybe it is time to change the subject to something that is always agreed upon on the DIS:

Osama turned out to be the epitome of evil because he was spanked as a child by a mother who didn't breast feed him. He was also bullied.

Discuss.

Don't forget about his hidden disability that required an animal to help him cope.

Ah yes, the Sociopathy detecting Chia Iguana. It looks like maybe he lost it in his beard.

I bet he was also the kind of person who would pool hop and not return carts to the corral when he was done shopping. I'd say he even reused mugs from previous trips but even he doesn't deserve such slander.
