RideMax Users Thread (FAQs Linked in First Post!)

OK, so the July calendar is up and I have started making our plans...but for some reason, even though on the official WDW site, July 19th is supposed to be an EMH-morning at DHS, Ride Max has it as just a normal 9AM opening. :confused3

This is because RideMax does not support any EMH besides MK MORNINGS. So it would only have it as a 9am opening. I would put in a few rides open during EMH starting at 9 ending at 10 and make a plan. Then make another plan from 9am to whatever with the rest of the rides.

Sounds good, thanks!!

I haven't read through all of the gazillion posts in this thread, but mine isn't in the FAQ post. So anyway, for those wanting an editable listing of the Ridemax touring plan, you can copy and paste it into Word. It comes in as a Word table, ready for miniturizing, streamlining, or adding data to.

Here is the step-by-step:

  1. Create your ride plan
  2. In the web page that opens with your plan, select the table, starting from the first blue bar all the way down to the black divider line.
  3. Copy the selection (Ctrl+c)
  4. Open MS Word or any word processor that supports tables
  5. Paste the selected table (Ctrl+v)
You now have an editable itinerary that you can play with as desired.

Once you have your plans the way you want, you can save them as PDF's and download them to your smart phone. No need to carry a bunch of paper.

Have fun!

Thanks for the tip. I'll add it to the FAQs when I have time.

Just wondering about opinions/results for high level crowd days. We're going Jul 26-Aug 3.

I didn't use Ridemax during a peak season however I did find that we didn't wait more than 15mins for anything. I liked that I had a clear understanding of what I was able to get done in a day DHS is particulary hard to work as there are so many shows.

I have read the thread I don't recall anyone coming back with a negative review.

Hope that helps some happy planning:wizard:

I started this thread FOR-EV-ER ago before our first trip to WDW in May 2009. We've just booked again for this December, and I'm SOOO excited :banana:!! I will DEFINTELY be using RIDEMAX again. Waiting for my 90 day window to arrive :rolleyes1!! Time to start scrolling this thread for all the great tips you guys have :cool1:! --Katie

We were last there May of '09 as well and loved Ridemax. We didn't have to follow it step-by-step, but it definitely gave us great starting points and guidance. We'll be using it again for our April '11 trip!! Crowds will probably be a little bit bigger so it should be even more helpful!

Anybody use RideMax just before Christmas? We'll be there Dec. 16th-24th. I hear it's gonna be super busy. . . How did it work for you during peak times? What sort of max waits can we expect if we make rope drop and chose a non-EMH park? --Katie

Forgive me if this question has been answered. I've only read the first 20 pages of this thread. This is my first time using RideMax. Our last 2 trips have been in February and September, and with low crowds a plan wasn't as vital. This coming trip is the first week of free dining and I expect the crowds to be a lot worse than we are used to. So I'm trying out RideMax to help.

I know everyone here is saying "Trust RideMax. It won't be wrong." But some of the plans it's giving me seem to contradict what has been traditionally recommended. E.g. one of our MK days, the plan RideMax spit out has me riding Snow White first and Dumbo second. Seriously? I thought the "Dumbo first" rule was pretty set in stone. I think it was this plan that also had me waiting until after 11:00am to ride Peter Pan and not picking up a fastpass for that. Huh? They were showing the wait time as 50 minutes at that point. My plans for that morning had been Dumbo first, followed by Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, then fill in with the other Fantasyland rides.

I ran a couple Epcot plans and both had me waiting until 12:15 and 12:45 to get Soarin' fastpasses, and then being able to use the fastpasses around 6:30pm. Is it no longer common for Soarin' fastpasses to run out by noon? Granted, the reason it had me waiting until after noon to get a Soarin' FP is because it had me picking up a Test Track FP around 10am after our Akershus breakfast. But I was thinking it would be better to go from breakfast to the Land, pick up Soarin' FP, then tour the rest of the Land attractions and the Seas while waiting for our FP time. I'd pick up a Test Track fastpass later in the day and ride right before we left for the evening.

Has anyone followed a plan that gives counterintuitive advice like this and can tell me yes, there really will be Soarin' fastpasses at 12:45pm that can be used at 6:30?:confused3

ETA: I just saw the "Soarin' vs TT" thread and apparently have found my answer to the Epcot plans question. I didn't realize that TT was currently running out of FPs faster than Soarin. I guess I shouldn't question RideMax at all. Although the Snow White before Dumbo thing still has me stumped.

I agree - I will play around with Ridemax until I get a plan that looks "right" to me - even then I think I will get fast passes earlier then they say - I think they are trying to minimize the walking sometimes - I can often run to get a FP and be back with my family pretty quickly

I will definately be doing Dumbo, Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh in that order -

Another questions? How come RideMax doesn't have the rehab/closures programed in? It will still let you make a plan for TSM and It's a Small World even when I know it will be close??

That all being said - I love RideMax -- It worked perfect last year!

We're booked for the Keys to the kingdom tour, so I've been trying to plan out a day that would have me going to the tour, grabbing a FP and going back to the hotel until 6, then returning. No matter how i play with Ridemax I cant get it to work. I have tried adding in a break for the tour then a few rides before i leave. That shows the break, but then has rides scheduled during the break??? Any ideas

Anybody know when mid-October dates will be up? I used Ridemax for my 07 DL trip and just bought it for my upcoming WDW trip, but was disappointed that my dates aren't available yet. I can't wait to play with my plans!

September JUST came out, so maybe not for another month?

I know how you feel though. I was waiting forever, it seemed, for September!

I would just adjust my start time by 10 min and go to Dumbo first. I have never seen a plan that I have made that didnt have dumbo first. I used it May 2009-2010. Maybe it was a glitch.

Anytime I didnt like the start I just changed the start time or added a break. BTW we only waited more than 5 min twice. Rode soring, TT twice each day while in Epcot. Its not perfect but it does work. :thumbsup2

Assuming the schedules remain similiar the week before our trip, RideMax has spit out the perfect touring plan (for us!) at Hollywood Studios!

We will be doing Jedi Training first and then during the rest of the day see/do:
TSM 2x to 4x
Indiana Jones
Beauty & the Beast
Parade
Lights, Motors, Action
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Magic of Disney Animation
HISTK playground (I'd rather cut this out for more Character time though)
Fantasmic
Lunch at Sci-Fi Dine-In

Only, it has scheduled us to line up for Fantasmic only 45 minutes before the show. For mid-September, is that enough line-up time to make sure we will get in the stadium/theatre?

Is that morning at the MK an EMH morning? It's possible that Dumbo would have a longer wait time when you arrive than Snow White, but would have a shorter wait time if you ride Snow White first. Or conversely, Snow White is expected to have a longer wait time by riding Dumbo first then Snow White. Something to keep in mind with RideMax is that they collect hard data, most of the "traditional recommendations" are hearsay.
