Hi I'm going to CSR for the first time in October and have a King room booked. Anything special I need to know? Are the king rooms all over or in a certain section?

Ok.. so... about this gator....

DD is terrified of crocs and gators.... what are the chances we're going to come across this guy "by surprise"?:scared1:

We have NEVER seen him out of the lake. Just don't let your DD run through the landscaping (be sure to see the thread about the little boy who got bit by a snake by reaching into the landscaping at the Caribbean). It is always best to beware...it is Florida and there are snakes and gators in Florida.

Oh - I wasn't worried about being unsafe I was worried about lugging the luggage and my kids (well prob. me and DS too) being lazy. ;)

:rotfl2: Well, you are on vacation, after all! :thumbsup2

We usually have a car, so we just park close to the room. I'm sure they will help you if you want/need help.

:thumbsup2 Never seen a gator out of the lake either (although there are some in our neighborhood who terrorize golfers from time to time :rotfl2:).

We saw Glen last May and he was less than 4 feet long. You won't see any giant crocs, although I don't particularly want to run from a little one either. My kids watched Glen from the little bridge in the cabanas area on the way to the Dig Site - they couldn't get near him.

There are king rooms in all three sections -- Castias, Ranchos and Cabanas. If one section appeals to you over another, call and have it added to your ressie. Just remember it is a request and not a guarantee.

And welcome to the CSR thread.

Hi! I just got back from an amazing trip to CBR for 9 days and because of my new addiction to planning a WDW vacation I am already planning our next one. :) Anyway, I have been lurking on this thread for a few days and I first wanted to say a big Thank You for starting this thread and to those people who have posted fabulous pix and info!! I am considering CSR for our next visit, maybe May 2011. I know it is early but if I may ask a couple questions. My kids will be 9, 6 and 2 if we go then. Has anyone stayed at CSR with kids these ages? It sounds like my 9 year old will be all set with that amazing waterslide, but just wondering about the other two. The CBR pool had a smaller waterslide and a kiddie area so I wonder if we will miss that. Also, is there a Pirate Adventure Cruise at the CSR? This was another thing my two oldest loved. Just curious. Also, if booking at CSR, should we book sooner than I might normally for another resort b/c of the conventions? Obviously I can't book until the Fall anyway, but again just curious. Given that I have read a great deal of this thread I think I know where to request. :) Again, thanks for all the wonderful info! People like you make the Dis so much fun!! :)

There are two slides in the main pool at CBR. One is enclosed and the other is open. There is also the play area.

Oh, I know....i just meant that there was a water slide that my 5 year old could do at the CBR as well as the "bigger" one my 8 year old could do. Yes, and we used the CBR water play area too. I guess I wasn't very clear in my post. Sorry.

That's a hard call. Hopefully, someone who has been there recently with younger kids can be more helpful (it's been over 10 years since my kids were at the CSR--they are both in college now). I can tell you they loved it and I know some six year olds that have gone down the slide (you can wait at the bottom for your child, but you cannot ride with him). There is no smaller slide. There is a kiddie pool, but no splash things or anything like that in it (water does shoot up from the ground if I remember correctly). There is also a GREAT playground right by the main pool and they do a pool opening ceremony with the kids by the temple.

Ok KatMark. Thanks! I will see if anyone else responds. I do appreciate it!

I went last year with my DDs, who were nine and six at the time. I couldn't keep them off the slide, and they both loved the pool. They both picked CSR for our trip this summer.

The 2-year old is a tougher call. CSR has a kiddie pool, but the main pool is 3 1/2 feet deep. I did see toddlers going down the slide in life jackets with parents waiting off to the side (mom in the pool, dad putting the child on the slide and then following when the coast was clear). Your two year old would probably be happy either in the main pool in a life jacket or in the kiddie pool, but CBR has a very nice set-up for younger kids.

My DD7 liked the CSR slide because it is open - she was not afraid of it. She doesn't like the enclosed slides like the longer one at CBR and the ones at Poly, Beach Club and OKW.

This is great info! Thank you. I am also going to check out POFQ, which for whatever reason I haven't really even thought about. I agree, CBR does have a nice set up for kids of all ages and if we didn't think that half the fun was trying new resorts we would probably go back.

My wife and I just returned back from the CSR for a five day stay and absolutely loved the resort. We were celebrating our anniversary and my first visit to the World and I could not have asked for a better resort to choose.

We stayed in Casita's 3 in a king room and loved it. The room was equipped for a person with disability but we found it great for us. Only differences were no doors separating the room and the vanity, and a large bathroom.

At first it was a little confusing to find the elevators and the way around but once you find the correct paths, you are set. We used the Casitas quiet pool a few times and used "The Dig" pool onced and enjoyed each visit. One of the best things that my wife and I discoverd about CSR was the bus service. We never had to wait over ten minutes for a bus and were pleased that we did not have to visit multiple resorts. This is an improvement over the Deluxes such as the Yacht and Beach Club which shares a bus with the Boardwalk Hotel. Mousekeeping was excellent, no towel animals, but we did not really care about that, just appreciated a clean room and fresh towels.

I want to thank everyone on this board and especially KatMark for your guidance and helpful information about this awesome resort. We are really looking forward to our next stay at Coronado in the near future.

Thanks -- Michael:thumbsup2

Thanks, Michael. I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the CSR. We really love the Casitas -- there is just something special about them.

Thanks for posting...we appreciate the feedback from all of our CSR people.

I went to CSR last Sept with a 2 y/o (no other kids) and she had a blast on the playground there. We didn't use the main pool, but she was very happy in the quiet pool for her first time swimming. There are life-jackets available at the Dig Site which can be used at any of the pools. She seemed to really enjoy everything else there though, so that's a good thing :).

Not sure about cruises, my gut tells me no, but I simply don't really know.

Booking should be done as soon as you can. Conventions do block up a large number of rooms, which are then released later, but it's always good to know you have a place :) It's also gotten more popular recently (at least it seems that way)... Kat may have had a hand in that :p.

While we have not been yet (soon, 4 more months yesterday!), my children are 11 and 6. I know both - especially my 6 year old boy! - are looking forward to the pool and slide. They get excited everytime the Disney and CSR photos come up on our computer's screen saver.

Haven't been on the boards in awhile, but wanted to stop in and say HI!

Also to wish everyone with trip's coming a Very Magical Stay.

We really wanted to go this year, but it's not in the budget. So hopefully next year we can plan a trip to CSR and the World.

Hi; we've missed you. Sorry you won't make it to DW this year, but hope you all are doing well.

Hi Kathy! :wave2:

I was wondering if anyone here would be able to tell me if online check in worth doing? I've seen a few reports of people saying it's not worth it and actually had to wait longer than if they hadn't done it. Our flight gets in around 1 p.m., so that should put us there at round 2:30-3:00 at the latest,I figure.
Any one with some advice or suggestions? I should probably post this as a thread.

Online check-in simply allows you to notify the resort a little bit earlier as well as give them an ETA on when you'll be there so they can have your package ready. It also gives you a choice of a shorter line.

Requests are unaffected if you have already added them to the ressie (other than the few checkbox types you can add on the online check-in form).

Also, I'm relatively sure that if there's a long line for online check-in, and a very little one for standard, you are "allowed" to go into the standard line as well. All their systems are linked (when I checked in last year, a "standard" guy did the work even though I had done online. Of course, I was the only person at the counter at the time :p). They may have to run down to the online check in window to grab your package, but it can be done.

There's really no downside to it (that I can see), you're free to change rooms if you don't like the original assignment (assuming there's availability), the possibilities for random upgrades still exist (although few and far between in either method), your requests are still honored and attempted (although there are no guarantees, with either method), you can still opt out into/out of charging privileges, and you shouldn't have any problems waiting in the standard line if there's open windows. Of course, the only downside to not doing it is not having your package prepared ahead of time (and they still might) and not having the option of the online check-in line (though, if it's empty and standard is mobbed, they'll typically pull people from standard over to there too).

Well, that was a wall of text, maybe someone more succinct than I will post too and then you can read that instead of my book :p.
