It's only been a month, and I still have 8 left. I wish it were June already.

My math teacher treats my class like babies. Seriously, we spent like two weeks on grade 10 review, which was more like grade 8 and 9 review. WE WERE DOING FRACTIONS. As in adding, subtracting, etc. Come on, I learned that in like grade 6! And I mean the sad part was some people couldn't even understand it.
He's always over explaining things (like why to the power of 0 is always 1, I don't care, it just is), and giving analogy's for fairly obvious stuff. I mean come on, I can figure out how to pick the right formula without thinking about a carpenter picking the right tool.
And because he spends so much time talking, he gives me homework right before class ends so I always have homework to do. I can do it in study hall (right after that class) but if I have other homework to do, math is in my way and as a rule I don't do math homework at home. They moved study hall to after period 2 now so people wouldn't skip. Well, I can only do homework for two classes of the day because I can't chance leaving hw to the day it's due!
I'm so annoyed with my math teacher. I cannot stand him. He feels the need to reteach the same stuff everyday.

And my english teacher is just annoying. She always leaves stuff to the end of class. She makes us memorize definitions word for word because 'You should be paying attention in class and studying properly'. Come on, I can't give my own definition for a word even if it's right? That's ridiculous. She gives us homework every fugging day, and mostly on days that I have to work. It's not little stuff, it's stuff that's expected to be handed in. And then she gives us questions for stuff we read, and expects us to just know the answers. I mean they're not simple stuff. And the next day in class we have this thing called a bell question. Well the question most of the time is one of the questions from the night before and it's usually the question I couldn't answer. Why should I lose points and be punished because I wasn't sure?

I cannot STAND this year at all. I hate my english and math teacher and I have them ALL YEAR.

Not even a month in and my theatre class is already killing me.
Groupwork! My group's stuff is the first due, we had a research breakdown due the second week of school! (this class is only once a week mind you, so on the second class!) we had a massive performance this past monday (which was horrifyingly nervewracking!) our final research report is due this monday, and our final performance is the week after (canadian) thanksgiving (Which is not this monday but next) all while the other groups are sitting pretty twiddling their thumbs!! :headache:

Also have a rather large french assigment due on monday on 2 readings that have yet to do (my fault obviously) but the big french project & HUGE theatre papers due on the same day = NOT GOOOOD.

Can't wait til december then I'll have a full MONTH off!!

Teachers seem to think that since I'm a great student that I should have every assignment done early and think that if someone can't do something, Kayla is the one that will do it. And obviously they don't think that I have a gazillion other clubs and classes where I'm in charge and think that since I'm a great student that I can be in charge of every group I'm apart of. Sometimes, I'd like to just be a member and help out. And when I don't have something done, they seem dissapointed or wonder what my problem is that day. Maybe I just want to have it done on time, not early for once.

But the most annoying part is how the students keep complaining about their lives and how much homework they have when I have about 10x more then they do and I do my work. It's not hard stuff they have, and they complain about it, during class. I pay to go to school, I pay to learn something. I'd like to get something out of my money besides listen to kids whine. thanks.

And the fact that I can't take notes and learn at the same time. Especially when the only time we go over something is when we're taking notes. Oh yeah, and the fact that my friends like to copy my paper. Today one of my friends asked and I flat out told her no, that she could look over this one page but she was doing the other worksheet herself. It took me nearly an hour to do the whole thing, I was proud of it, it was something I enjoyed. Nobody else is taking credit for my stuff anymore.

Bring on summer.

I have been so stressed lately! I have an english paper due Monday, psychology test Wednesday, art research paper due Wednesday, history term paper due the next Monday, and lots of homework and studying inbetween. PLUS I need to meet with my advisor before she'll let me register for spring classes, even though I already know what I want to do and it will be a waste of time. I can NEVER get a hold of her and she's NEVER in her office to schedule an appoitment! Grr.

Plus I'm applying to be a tutor, and I need to go to the union to get a copy of my transcript for it. I went this morning but everyone at the records office was in a staff meeting.

So yeah, in general, I have a lot of stress. But you know what? I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love college and papers and studying and listening to (interesting) lectures.

I've been soo busy lately!
I had my second HUGE math test yesterday... and I got a C on it :[ I DONT get C's. But, atleast we can do test corrections and I can bring my grade upto a 90 (which is a high B where I live, they use the 7 point grading scale)
It was super duper hard considering my math teacher likes to "challenge" the smart kids (aka the nerds). In SS class the teacher expects our groups to finish an entire powerpoint with 25-30 slides in one class period (1 hour- which by the time we get to the computer lab it's only about 50 minutes left) Yeah, my group? Slide 13. Ugh.

US History:
  • We have to do community service [At least ten hours]
  • We have to complete this by January
  • We're also reading a book and have a discussion about it every Thursday
  • Also, there's packets with our textbook that we do often
  • Every other week we have a current event essay due
  • My teacher often gives us 2/3 assignments per night
  • No matter how hard you try she'll always give you a bad grade

Geometry:
  • The Indian woman, who's one of the aides, yells a lot
  • Her English is very hard to understand
  • She never does anything at all
  • The teachers in that class stalk you like a hawk
  • There is never a time where a teacher isn't walking by my desk
  • They don't trust the students
  • It takes them 5/10 minutes for them to make sure that no one is cheating when we are grading the tests

English:
  • My teacher asks how I am ALL the time. Every day..because of this one identity paper and it was really sad/depressing..so she feels the need to talk to me every day

Radio:
  • Same teacher as English; no complaints

Lunch:
  • I sit with my so-called "friends"
  • I've known one since Elementary
  • There's a chance I might not even be invited to her 16th
  • They [my 'friend' and her two other friends] gossip and talk about boys a lot
  • They never ask or try to talk to me about anything

LSC:
  • One of the teachers is the same as my Geometry; no complaints

Gym:
  • I have the most ridiculous gym teacher ever
  • He's really overweight
  • & then tells US to lose weight
  • Yells at us when we don't do things right
  • When he probably can't even do it himself

Study Hall/lrc:
  • He's cool; no complaints

Science:
  • My teacher's really nice
  • The homework is never difficult
  • I think I'm the only student in my entire class that actually DOES their homework
  • It's the only class I can be 'myself' in
  • I trust the students

i have to do community service for my major. 40 hours completed by the time i have 60 core hours completed. (thats around my junior year)

Glad to see I'm not alone.

My medterms teacher is such a dunce and is on the border of being a WITCH with a capital B. She's so nerve-grating, it's one month into school and I've finally gotten to the point where I just tune her out. Every year my teachers always tell me I'm VERY attentive so you know it's bad. She's just so witchy about everything. She failed one kid yesterday on their test because they were 30 seconds late. KICKER! She didn't even tell her she was late! She won't tell us what time we're supposed to be in our classrooms because our lunches have 6 different schools integrated and each school comes at a different time.

I wouldn't worry too much about the community service Allison, unless you really have NOTHING to do in your town. Our town is small but I have to have 12 hours this semester and by the end of this month I'll already have 6 hours done. Most of mine I'll be getting from my extra-cirricular clubs, so you might look into that.

I'm having a really hard time not being able to get over a 90% on my tests this year. My friends tell me to stop worry about my grades when they have Ds and stuff but the fact is I never make Bs. I've only had 1 my whole year in highschool and I honestly hate to think that I could have a B. I don't tell my parents because they just joke around and say if I get a B I get my computer taken away and that makes me even more mad.

Now the kids are making fun of the new teacher who is actually getting better and I really like her. It's annoying.

As much as it seems I'm complaining I wouldn't trade going to school for anything. If it was up to me I'd go to school for the rest of my life.

Ours has to be at certain places. I was thinking about a Petsmart nearby or something. :confused3

Woah, so how many hours do you usually do per month?

Ah, at least they give you the places to visit to get them. We just have to document ours and have an adult or someone verify it. If we have questions about what would be considered community service then we talk to the principals.
Good luck!

i've not actually started it yet, but several of the semester long classes that are major specific require 5-10 hours of service for class work, and you can count that, so by the time i will be applying for my major, i should pretty much have it all completed, just from taking my classes.

(and 5-10 hours in a semester is cake. 2 hours on a saturday, for five saturdays. i mean really, thats easy.)

5 lecture classes, 2 labs and 6-hour clinicals every week.

december yet?

ETA some good news I guess.. had an exam in Micro last week. I got an 84 .. 11 pts above the class average, and if you got below a 70 you had to go to mandatory tutoring sessions ... 1/3 of the class is in tutoring. So not my best test grade, but it could've been A LOT worse.

5 AP's was a poor choice.
I'm just living for the weekends now and counting down to Christmas break!

Its ok.

Except for Chemistry.

I absolutely hate that class.

My schedule is great, I find Trigonometry to be very simple so far, and my English class is a piece of cake. History there is just a lot of work, I have an 8 page term paper due by the 24th of October... not to mention I have an essay due every week.

Psychology is terrible lol. The teacher is way too old and goes off on a tangent almost everyday.

On the first day of school she decided to talk to us about women envying a certian male body part...lol.

Eh, its actually not too bad this year. I know it could be much worse.

But what I do hate is my 8am micro-bio class M/W with labs on friday mornings

Now that I'm an 'upperclassman' I got to choose classes that werent at miserable times, ect.
