Ok you guys...its on, the LIVE Nicki and Todd..Summer edition!

Oh my gosh- the pork dish from Cali Grill looked amazing! I have never been there before but I'm definitely heading there the next time I'm in WDW. Sorry the weather was so crappy, hopefully it gets better for you! Enjoy the rest of your trip- looking forward to your reviews :)

First off, POFQ holds a special place in my heart as the first Disney resort I've stayed at "on site", back in early 1992, when it was just Port Orleans. It marks the time I was officially spoiled for staying on site. Loved it back then, love it now. And The Resort Formerly Known as Dixie Landings, too.

You're making it VERY hard to skip California Grill in October. I have October and December trips, so I probably could squeeze it in somewhere. Now that the flatbreads are back, I really want to go back.

Actually, it's too bad you're arriving after I leave. I would have split an entire meal with you, based on what you'd want to order. In this case, I would have split a flatbread, the spicy Kazan roll sushi, the risotto, and the pork. Any combination of those items! But I would get the chocolate dessert for myself and would not share. :cloud9:

And the cheese plate! I like Brillat Savarin, and I would try the Bermuda Triangle. I enjoy the Cypress Grove cheeses!

And I gave a bottle of Conundrum as a birthday gift for a friend. I believe she's now hooked on the stuff. ;)

I cannot believe you just made me change my ADR's that have to be made on MONDAY!! Now i have to try and figure out how to fit Cali Grill in there. I didnt think that I would like anything there at all b4 I saw your pics.....Thanks :)

Great report,so much detail.Thank you for feeding our addiction to food porn, lol.Anyone know if the biscuits and gravy is a snack credit? My kids would love that.

Your son is just like me, never met a gingerbread I didnt want to eat! It was at the Villan's store right next to Starring Rolls...it is so super moist and wonderful! They did not have them at Writers Stop but they did have the carrot cake cookies.

Thanks! :flower3: You just made a little boy so happy!! :yay:

I want to try Narcoossees too, the food looks really good, make sure you let us all know what you think about it

Nicki, Narcoossees is our new favorite signature restaurant. The food is fabulous, the service is wonderful and the view is just amazing. My DH still talks about their Seafood Bisque soup! I discovered if you're staying at the GF you can order room service directly from the restaurant. That's our plan for our water park day, wear the kids out then have a surf and turf on the balcony! :thumbsup2

Overall the crowds are ZIP!
How I wish for no crowds when I arrive next Friday!!! :cool1:

Happy to hear you enjoyed Cali Grill. I didn't know the pork was their signature dish, I had it 9 years ago. It was delicious back then too! :goodvibes

Hey I have to tell ya I canceled TH and switched to Boma. I think it will just be easier to head to a water park from there rather than from AK. I don't feel like trekking thru a park just for breakfast :headache:. DH also agreed and said let's go check out AKL, never been. I was just drooling over your Boma photos. :p The kids can survive one breakfast without characters! ::MickeyMo

Enjoy your day relaxing by the pool! :beach:

Mare

Great reviews! Count me in on this trip with you too! Love your live reports! Glad you are enjoying POFQ. We went our first time and then the Poly after.

Oh WOW! I can't wait to try Cali Grill! That pork looks amazing! Now, being Italian too, I would have to strain myself from grabbing the bread and eating up the rest of the risotto sauce too! My DH wants to go there for the sushi, which I hear is outstanding! Have a great day today, and I can't wait to read more.....popcorn::

We are back for a while to rest and beat the rain...we started out a bit late because "someone" would not wake up...I did cancel our Sci Fi ressie but that was ok, we know we like the place and maybe we will make it over there on Monday.

Stepping outside our door was beautiful sunshine and here are some pics from around our room, building 3.

So peaceful and quiet, and it was just 10am! I cannot wait to stay here again, we are just loving this place!

We decided to eat breakfast at the food court, I told DH to get in line and we would share a breakfast platter and I would get the beignets and he wanted a cinnamon bun...if you guys read my reviews you will know Todd has never met a cinnamon bun he did not like!

Word of advice here ladies, never let a hungry man get the food...because he will get too much! The boy comes over to me with a biscuits and gravy platter, a king creole platter and a fruit plate, plus a large OJ (which I am not a fan)....I said to him "Hungry much? Who is joining us for breakfast??" It was only $17 because we used our TIW card here for 20% off! That is a deal! If you are staying at the POFQ make sure you purchase your bottled
drinks here instead of the gift shop so you can save $

There wasnt anyone in the CS place, it was dead quiet, no lines for any food either...that is a great sign! Love a nice quiet CS place.

I ordered a 3 piece beignets, they came loaded with powdered sugar. The guy put the sugar in the bottom of the dish and then the beignets on top and doused them with more powdered sugar. They were light and wonderful and reminded me of fried dough, not funnel cake but the fried dough we get in New England. DH inhaled before he bit it and the powdered sugar was everyone, it was hilarious! DH had 2 and I had 1...pastry hog that he is! Very good but I dont know if we would get them again.....the cinnamon bun was much better!

DisneyFoodJune09038.jpg

Onto the cinnamon bun, it was warm, it was gooey and it was not big enough to share with DH...I think he has a sick addiction to sweet pastries! Possibly the best (close second to Main Street Bakery) that we have had at WDW...we are def getting another one tomorrow!

DisneyFoodJune09039.jpg

Here is the large OJ

DisneyFoodJune09042.jpg

The fruit is outstanding, cold and fresh and sweet and not mushy...we had to fight over the honeydew....sooo good!

DisneyFoodJune09043.jpg

Biscuits and gravy is DH's thing...we did not have this stuff when I was a kid but when I moved to FL 19 years ago I was introduced to "slop on a plate" and the best is at Bob Evans...DH is not that picky and will eat it anywhere. He really liked this but I thought it was ok...the biscuits at WDW are not the greatest but there was alot of gravy and it actually had sausage in it when most WDW places do not. For $3.39 it is a steal and of course DH ate almost all of it.

DisneyFoodJune09040.jpg

The King Creole platter had terrible potatoes, super dry scambled egg bits, great sausage link (just one) DH ate the bacon and said it was ok and a semi good biscuit....I told him next time he is in line for eggs get me creamy semi wet ones instead!

DisneyFoodJune09041.jpg

I didnt eat too much here but suprise suprise all the food was gone...my little piggy ate everything...hmmmmm still hungry after last nights dinner??

OMG Nikki, your husband sounds EXACTLY like mine. We've stayed at POFQ that last 2 years (and will be there again end of October this year :yay:) and he would always get that creole platter, oatmeal, 2 juices, beignets, etc. We ran out of snack credits in the middle of the week! I was so PO'd!! This time I will be getting the food.

What are your dates for October? It looks like we may be there at the same time :)

Love it!

Can't wait to hear about Tonys. Have a blast!

Promise to post tonight, finally some yummy calamari!

OMG! Cali grill looked to die for!!! Do tell about the pork tenderloin dish...did it have a lot of mushroom flavor??? I can not stand mushrooms at all, but there isn't many on the plate, I could push them aside :confused3 I am thinking I may have to change up some things for my upcoming ADR's!! I have seen several reviews of cali grill recently and it looks so scrumptious!

There was zero mushroom flavor to the dish, the mushrooms were more like a little side addition and DH liked them alot. I am so glad we kept the CG ressie, it was out of this world and I could stare at that view all day!

flatbreads are back, so that means Cali Grill is back on our list!! :rotfl2:

teh wine list you posted - $10 - $15 per glass? Oh well, its Disney, its a night out...

I cant believe you havent been here before!! When we were there last I ordered the chicken entree with gnocchi, I've never had that - it was super delish! The fillet looks wonderful to me - as I was reading it I wondered how it would compare to the LeCellier Fillet of old!! :rotfl2: Yes, my mouth is watering!! Thank you!! :worship:

Yup they are back! Funny though no one around us ordered them and I would have loved to see them. Yes the wine was expensive but that Conundrum was worth it...so good! DH said the filet at Le Cellier was better, for some reason the beef was more tender there. I liked the filet at CG but didnt like the teriyaki bbq that went with it.

Sorry you had a bad food experience at Raglan Road. That polenta and pork dish from CG looks sooooooooo good! Do they have a drooling smilie?

I wish I could go back this week and get the pork polenta dish again, it was that good!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god and thank you for letting us know!!!!!!!!!

You are so welcome!

Well, I finally finished reading CG review! I am SO glad that you liked it! The two of you just picked my menu :thumbsup2, risotto, pork and the valhrona cake :lmao:
It's such a shame about the rain - or can I say - another reason to go back! ;)

Have a magical day today!

Thank you for all of your recommendations, listening to you and reading your reviews totally paid of for us! The storm was unreal, it was gorgeous to watch it roll in from the 15th floor! Just dont like to do parks in that kind of weather!

Thanks for the CG review - really looking forward to this and thinking I may have t try that pork!!;)

If you love pork you will be blown away by this dish!

I hope you can get the chance to go to CG, DH and I are sitting here still talking about this meal and wondering why we didnt try it sooner! I joked because it will break the bank ha ha!

The POFQ is fast becoming our must do resort...we had the quietest night again, we can actually sleep through and not hear people upstairs or next to us and the toilets are silent ..so far... we are getting into the weekend so more people may arrive.

Oh I think you should go back to CG so I can drool over your pictures! And I would share a meal there with you but I too would have to get my own dessert! :rotfl:

Morning, Nic. I hope today brings you guys better weather and looking forward to Tony's review. :yay:

I'm sorry :rotfl: You know we are like that too...the menus have a way of making us thing we will not like the food but we try stuff anyways and it is just great! Even plain picky eaters will love Cali Grill

I am so glad we are headed to WDW tomorrow so I can get one of those Passionfuit Mango Slushie things at DHS!!! :goodvibes

Ok meet ya there :lmao: DH and I just polished off the gingerbread man and I told him we need to get back to HS for another one and a Passionfruit Mango Slushie...thank goodness we have 6 more days to do it...well 5 for him and 6 for me!

Glad you had a good time at Cali Grill, it looked amazing. Shame about the weather. :(

Thank you, it was a great date night!

Great report,so much detail.Thank you for feeding our addiction to food porn, lol.Anyone know if the biscuits and gravy is a snack credit? My kids would love that.

I can try and find out this morning, I didnt look at the menu board, that was DH's job ha ha. Thank you so much for reading along!

Thanks! :flower3: You just made a little boy so happy!! :yay:

Mare

Mare, we just ate that gingerbread man and it was so moist and soft and wonderful, very fresh..nothing like the one I had a Germany this past March. Make sure you get a few of them for your son, he will probably inhale them like we did

I hope there are low crowds for your stay too....you will LOVE Boma, we are going there on Wed, our departure day....DH just loves the banana bread and Cape May was booked so it was a no brainer, now I can compare TH with Boma!

Great reviews! Count me in on this trip with you too! Love your live reports! Glad you are enjoying POFQ. We went our first time and then the Poly after.

Hi there and welcome! I just love the POFQ, it is perfect for us!

Oh good so you understand the sop the plate deal right? The table behind us had platters of sushi and they were all sharing it, I must say it looked very good, the presentation was gorgeous!

OMG Nikki, your husband sounds EXACTLY like mine. What are your dates for October? It looks like we may be there at the same time :)

Hey we may be here the same time! Oct 22-25 at POFQ and Oct 25-Nov 1 at BWI but DH and I were talking and we love the POFQ so much we may add a few more days here and less at BWI, save some money in the process too and that is always a good thing, more $$ for food :rotfl2:

DH is itching to get to breakfast, who knows what he is going to order today...I want a bowl of soft scrambled eggs and an everything bagel so he better not order for me!

Morning, Nic. I hope today brings you guys better weather and looking forward to Tony's review. :yay:

Me too, thanks for the warm wishes! Right now the sun is streaming through the windows and it looks like a great day for the pool. Got my book, got the tanning lotion now if I could just get my hubby off his butt I will be good to go!

I really want to try something different at Tonys tonight, I had the shrimp pasta the last time and it was great but for the sake of reviews I think I owe it to my fellow DISers to try something else :lmao:

Thank you so much for the pictures of the Starring Roll Sandwiches. I can't wait to show the family this tonight. How is the dining area?

o man i could not wait to finish reading your review of california grill so i could comment on it! You ordered my 3 favorie things from there, the pork the beef and that chocolate piece of heaven!!! :cloud9:Omg i love it all, i wish you liked the teryaki sauce a little more when i had it last august it wasnt really smokey, maybe they cook it a little different now? I am so glad you liked it!! i hate when people dont like the cali grill lol
o and that goat cheese polenta....holy crap don't get me started

ETA- i totally hear you on the bread thing, my boyfriend always makes fun of me for having a clean plate at the end of every meal. I can' help but finish everything with a piece of bread lol. I'm only half italian but my mom is full and man she taught me well.
i'm sorry i'm writing a novel on your thread but, next time you go to the cali grill order the sonoma goat cheese ravioli and try the bread in that sauce, you will be hooked!

All hail MickeyNicki, our live reporting Goddess!

OMGoodness! Those cupcakes! I wonder if you can get one with a snack credit....

and I knew I was interested in the California Grill, but that looked so yummy - glad to see Disney is making up for last night!

Thank you so much for doing these live reports! They really make it easier to pass the time till our next trip!

Cali Grill looked great....I can't wait to try it in October! I've read several reviews where people did not care for the sauce on the filet, so I am definitely leaning towards leaving it off myself. DH is a pork fiend, so I am going to recommend he try that....based on your review I think he will love it.

Well I called this morning and was not able to get an ADR for Fulton's for the day we needed. I plan to keep trying in case of cancellation but am thinking of other options also.

I went ahead and cancelled RR. I just have no desire to eat there after seeing those meatballs-yuck. I would rather do CS.

I am thinking of one of these-Nicki do you have any opinions or suggestions for something else?
Or anyone, not just Nicki. This is our AK park day but we planned to head to DTD that evening. I thought maybe try Y&Y for lunch and do CS in DTD that evening? I still really want to try Fulton's.

Y&Y
Bongo's
Wolfgang Puck
Jiko's
Flying Fish

I have not been to Tony's since 2005, cant wait to see your review. We loved it when we went though.
