Worst Room View Pics Thread

WL room view earlier in this thread is terrible. But I guess it was quiet? Not sure what would be worse the view of the roof top if it was quiet or noise from delivery trucks and buses?

Roof tops are anything but quiet. Any noise whatsoever around is echoed and amplified off the metal (in the case of WL) and right through the closed balcony door. Particularly bad when you have groups of noisy teens, or perhaps they were just boisterous families, heading out the the bus stop at 7am. The bus stops start just below the end of the green rooftops.

I don't know if it was the fever (kids and I were down with the flu that trip) or the fact that I paid over $400/night for that 'woods view' room that sent me over the edge, but I recall standing out on the balcony, squinting my eyes trying to make myself imagine that the outline of those rooftops were actually mountains in the distance... no, didn't work.

I don't have the picture (I'll see if DH has it) but at Wilderness Lodge one time, our view overlooked the concrete part that contained the trash bins. And you guessed it, EARLY every morning, the big loud trash trucks came to empty the trash bins.

Hey RazorFace83 I had the same room one trip. It is amazing how much heat comes off the top of that roof. I feel your pain.

The first two years I used a travel agent (2000 and 2002), before I started booking it myself. I did the four days in the park and the three days on the cruise, and I go the week after Thanksgiving.

The first year, I stayed in CBR, so the second year I opted for POR. Well, the travel agent called me and said Disney was going to close POR that week and offered me an "upgraded" room at the Dolphin. She said it was right near Epcot and I could see the fireworks out of my window each night.

Well, I get there and I am on an upper floor, but facing the loading dock. It was the most hideous view I had ever seen, just pavement and dumpsters. And you could hear the trucks showing up to make deliveries really early every morning.

I went downstairs and asked about my room facing the fireworks, and she said no arrangements had been made for me to have that much of an upgraded room. The travel agent had never mentioned it; she just assumed I would get a room overlooking the water side.

To add insult to injury, the Dolphin is considered a business person's resort, and most of the restaurants required business casual attire. All I had was shorts and T-shirts, so I had to eat in the cafeteria or in the parks or other resorts. And the first night, I went to the bar and ordered a glass of wine, and they served it in a fish bowl, with about one inch of wine, and it was $10.00. Obviously, a lot of people were there on per diem expenses.

Needless to say, the next year, I booked it myself, stayed in POR, and have stayed there ever since.

Good thread; still cannot get that image of seeing MIL out of my head; that beats them all!

Last time we went, we stayed at POR, and I couldn't believe my sister and her family wanted to pay for an upgrade when you had to go outside to see the view! We are staying at SSR in August. I hope I get a good view, but I think I'll be sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine each nite whether there is a good view or not.
Thanks for all of the great pics!

I shudder to think what critters could come through the cracks in that door. I would not be able to sleep in there! :scared1:

I was really disappointed with this room... the only reason I was able to sleep was it was Dec and very cold while we were there...the only creatures we saw was a lizard on the wall by the light fixture each night...and we have those on our front porch every night, so they don't bother me...but i too thought about what it would be like if it were the warmer time of the year:scared1:

Beacuse we got married at Disney, we got one free room night at any resort of our choice....we chose the WL. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this view!

Looking straight ahead, you see the Contemporary and a peek of the castle (which was cool)......

But, below are the generators and service entrance (not to mention the Disney employees smoking on their break....what a way to kill the magic!)...

Oh see, I would have been gone. Lizards are a HUGE issue with me, even though I also live in the south and have them outside my house. Sometimes they get inside...and well, that's not pretty. I have sucked them up with the vacuum and even maced one who refused to be swept out. :lmao: I like snakes better than lizards!!!

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

i acn handle the lizards...though I prefer they stay outside....a few months ago one of my cats brought one in the house, down the hall and into my master bath:scared1: when I startled the cat he dropped the lizard and it disappeared....I looked everywhere for it:eek: about 2 weeks later my daughter said ...."mom, I just found your lizard" it was crawling up the wall by the door jam in the bathroom...I think he was as happy to go back outside as i was to get him out there:lmao:

snakes on the other hand....:faint:

You sound just like me, only it's frogs for me....:scared:

Oh frogs are a very close second for me after the lizards. Most frogs aren't as bad as they don't startle and run like lizards...although those little tree frogs are fast so I detest them. One got in my car once and nearly killed me while I was driving. :scared1:

Any idea what room number you had. I booked a woodsview and I am hoping that it was a standard.
